The connector for the front panel connectors is upside down on my EVGA Z270 FTW -K MB. Still afraid to power it up until I hear from Support. Pg 44 of 132-KS-E277.pdf references the front panel header info. On my MB pin 10 is not blank. Pin 1 is supposed to have a pin - mine does not. 5 4 3 2 1 In the TM it's 6 7 8 9 10 10 9 8 7 6 1 2 3 4 5 Cust svc seems to think the TM and the PDF are both wrong. In any case, there is a problem here.

The blank pin on my MB is in the lower left hand corner. If you use that chart on my MB pin 10 has a pin, and Pin 1 is blank

Go by the Color Code or turn the MB 180 degrees facing away from you if you are color blind. Maybe you should take a photo and post here on the Forum.

The point here is 'are the pin outs installed correctly'. It's obvious the PRC does not know who Deming was nor his principles in quality control. This particular S/N'd board should have failed a QC check. I have installed the DG-87 header pins to the pin numbers. If something goes pop due to this incident, is a missinstalled connector grounds for a RMA? When connectors are mis-aligned or rotated on a production line, it is normal for connections to remain unchanged from a correctly placed connector. Is this error a human error and just a hiccup; or did a machine do this and more boards may appear with this same problem?

I don't use Front Panel header at all. I like to power on computer directly on motherboard. OK I have other reason, many useless cables from PC Case. On motherboard I see and HDD activity, power, reset, everything is there.

I did wonder if the power and reset switches needed to know which leg of the switch was ground If the switch is isolated from case ground why bother ?

it does not, the only ones that are polarity are the led pins.

The front panel of the DG-87 case has temperature LED's, and the fan control. All are at risk if the connector is hosed.

The blank pin is your guide. Should you try and put the cable on wrong it will not go into the slot. In fact a blank pin connect is made that way just to ensure a proper cable connection.

The Connector is Not Hosed. Review the DG-87 Case Manual and your MB Manual. If it where Hosed do you not think that all the users of this MB would here saying the same? Also the "temperature LED's, and the fan control" are separate from the MB Front Panel Connector.

Sorry, the header connector in the DG-87 case for the HD_LED power is a pair of single pin connectors

I have not ripped apart the case to actually see where the connectors for the DG-87 case actually go. The skimpy manual leaves a lot to be desired. Believe when I say I know technical manuals. I have had to rebuild 64 pin round armored cable connectors in the Navy. I was a Display Tech for over 11 years. I also was working on a BSIT degree from SIU. The Industrial Technology COI not a computer finger wiggler course. I did not finish the degree because I did not want to either learn Mandarin or Spanish. Another reason is I was 38 when I retired from the Navy and MFR's want kids in their 20's. Those with this BSIT degree KNOW quality control inside and out. EVGA needs to hire some people with this degree and send them to the manufacturer of this product. Those in the PRC do not care about quality - It's a thing about their culture. Please, if you don't have the FTW K board do not comment to this OP.

Pin 1 is missing on my MB and pin 10 has a pin. The connector on the MY MB is turned. Pin 1 in this case is at the lower LH. According to the manual pin 10 is supposed to be blank.

This Motherboard is a MLB. There are no wires that I know of inside of it. You cannot use the connector if it's turned because of the way the connections are produced on a production line. If the connector is turned and you try to use it, then you stand a very good chance of introducing grounds or shorts. These will cause strange problems. As an aside, since this site has a limitation on the size of uploaded photo's here is a suggestion: Get VIEWPRINT. It's free from https://www.hamrick.com/upg.html . You can resize photo's and crop out parts. Forget using paint. I've used this program since the early 90's. VuePrint - Free Image ViewerPhotographers, corporations and home users around the world use VuePrint to quickly and efficiently view and print images. VuePrint also includes features for cropping images, converting image formats, reducing the size of images for e-mail, and easily browsing through large collections of images (just press the space bar and backspace key). VuePrint was first released in 1995 and has been used by millions of people around the world. It's now a free program

Please avoid linking product serial numbers to the forums. I looked into it and it seems that Hamrick is the maker of VuePrint and the serial number is in the install instructions for the software on the website but when someone sees a serial number they often assume the software is pirated which is not ok on the forums. By just posting the link people can fallow the instructions on the site.

more than likely the manual is wrong, they probably used a stock photo with the assumption that most people will just follow the color codes, since all the text on the MB line up with the correct color code i would be willing to bet they are correct and the manual is wrong, it happens. on a side note i cant remember the last time i even looked in a manual for front panel layout, i just go by the colors.

This would be accurate. The pinout is still the same (which you can see by the colors), however the orientation has been rotated on this board. Sorry for the confusion
