Ryzen 9 7950X3D vs. Core i9-13900K, Pre-Fight Z790 Issues

Hardware Unboxed has a video up and running, but I cannot post a link I assume? If you skip to 4:37 of the video he explains. Is this true and can some test it? I can maybe test next week and upload benchmarks, but gathering data from other z690 users might show us our own in house testing for consumers..

    Got less performance with rebar off in cp2077 @ 4k. Was like 3-4 fps difference.

    It shouldn’t hurt performance at all but some games not made to take advantage of resizable bar won’t see a performance increase.

    It’s definitely something though over time we will see it become a major change for GPU’s as developers can count on gamers using a card that has it.

    - Disable Horizon Zero Dawn Resizable Bar profile on Intel platforms

    531.41 WHQL (Today 3/23/23)


    I guess intel heard about this issue, but I am curious if rebar is still on... Anyone have  Horizon Zero Dawn or other games he tested?

    Rebar on for 4k still works just fine. Just a 1080p issue it seems.

    Kind of weird that it seems to become an issue as you become more CPU bound.  Assuming there'd be a be a scalable impact with 1440p.  Wonder what other games this could be identified on.  The benefits of rebar on Nvidia GPUs has always been hit or miss anyway, where AMD seems to benefit heavily from it and Intel GPUs seem to depend on it.

    On r/Nvidia there are lots of comments about reBAR being disabled in more and more games with the Nvidia driver on Intel. Apparently some back end bug. Hence why Nvidia has to whitelist the game for reBAR to work.

    It’s not like you need to really use Rebar on a 1080p game in the first place.

    It definitely would help 4K and possibly some 1440p games but I think it might be best to leave it disabled for 1080p gamers.
