Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced it shipped over 13.3 million SSDs in the first half of 2019, according to data compiled by market research firm TrendFocus. The astounding amount places Kingston as the third-largest supplier of SSDs in the world behind semiconductor manufacturers Samsung and Western Digital, showing its strength and position in the market place as the world's leading third-party SSD maker. Kingston's total accounted for a whopping 11.3 percent of the total number of SSDs shipped globally during the first half of the year among all manufacturers.

Kingston is fast becoming a force in the enterprise SSD market. Later this year, Kingston will add to its portfolio with the DC1000M U.2 NVMe SSD for data centers and workstations who require higher throughput and IOPS. The drive will join the data center family of enterprise SSDs which focuses on both read-intensive and mixed-workload server environments for organizations who require predictable Quality of Service (QoS) and performance consistency.

Looks like Kingston has found a niche in the SSD market in my opinion making it the world's 3rd largest SSD manufacturer.

I have no experience with any of their products.  Good to see there's competition

I can see if they were talking about platter HD's   but never thought they were that big in SSD

I think it's different with Kingston then Samsung.  They are more of a company that for $50 you could get a 500GB SSD to speed up an old laptop and like $100 for 1TB. A lot of the product line they have is 2.5" SATA drives instead of M.2 drives. I think that is why they sell so fast is the speed improvement to a HDD computer to change to a SSD is huge and as for gaming I would rather have a SATA SSD then a SATA HDD. It might not be the fastest drives around but it has enough storage space for a very good price.

Western Digital has been pushing hard for the last two years. They sell primarily WD Blue and WD Black SSDs, and last year the WD Blacks were extremely price competitive with other performance SSDs. I knew WD were selling, but I sure didn't realize Kingston was selling so many.

I am guessing a lot of it is that offices are happy  to spend $33 and get a 240GB drive that starts up Windows quickly and has workers running the software they need. Kingston drives are like $22 for 120GB on Amazon and for an office system that is probably enough storage. The increase in productivity though for that $22 would be huge as employees are not spending minutes talking waiting for the computers to start up and minutes at the end of the day talking waiting for the computers to shut down.
