Finally got in trying for OVER 2 hours....total bull****.
 
I got in literally over 30 times a early it was white outs in the submit box and/or it would not submit at all....
 
Error 17s non stop starting 35 minutes in.

Yep , I had that happen more than 40 times... first time I had it up at 3 minutes after notify button went life. Complete  show. At least I made it in. Will see how this goes.

I've never bought a card with a metal backplate. What is the purpose of the Hydro Copper line, is it for custom water loops? I just put myself in the queue like I have for every 3080 TI/non-TI card to increase my chances of getting anything, but this is the first card I'll actually get off the queue before my Elite member spin-the-wheel coupon expires. I'm probably gonna buy it if given the chance, but will I need to provide my own cooling solution or can I just slap it in?

Not to sound like a ****, but if you are asking this question you really need to do some homework on even the basics of the card.  I'm sorry, but after spending over an hour trying to get in was just crazy.  
 
But really, the water block card is meant for an open loop cooling system.  If you are asking this question, more than likely you haven't done one before.  You need to do some homework yourself and figure out a budget for what you are willing to spend.  This would also need to take into consideration the components you plan to reuse to make sure they are able to compliment both the new gpu and the custom water loop you will need for this GPU.  The KP HC is the top of the line, but it is water cooled, not air cooled.  
 
This is not something a beginner can't do, but something that does take a lot of homework and research to figure out if this is right for the user.  Maintenance is going to be more of an issue, but what you lose in the time it takes to maintain and cost it takes to complete the open loop system you will gain in performance due to heat reduction.  You will still need a good balance of parts around the gpu to make the most use of the GPU.  Congrats on getting into the queue early though.  

No I understand, that's more or less the impression I was under. I've never done a custom water loop before and never intended to. If there's no idiot-proof way to go about this, I'm just not gonna buy it. I'd also be willing to trade with someone for a 3080, TI or otherwise, that comes with cooling built in.

This is a decent option for someone who doesn’t have a custom loop. But maybe a hybrid kit gpu is more sensible tbh. Queuing for a gpu you have no idea how to work with ok fine, but kingpin hc is $2400+. Big ticket for a desperation play imo, why not get an amd gpu until you can find the 30 series you want?

I may have just posted in the wrong thread, I'm queue'd up for the 3080 TI hyrdro copper. I'm only even considering paying for it because my coupon is going to expire in about 40 days, and none of the queues I'm on are moving fast enough for me to be able to use it when I finally get the chance to buy those cards. If I can't use the coupon, I'd just wait out my 3080 queues instead of paying for a TI.
 
Also, if anyone is interested in trading their non-custom-water-cooled 3080, TI or not, for a 3080 Ti XC3 ULTRA HYDRO COPPER, let me know. I can't respond to PMs yet because I don't have 10 posts on the forums though

Make sure you have a solid PSU as well...kingpin cards are power hungry
