For me, I waited in line for the Hybrid kit since January and when the KP HC gpu came out I missed on the initial release and then I was delayed again in getting into the KP HC gpu queue when it was re-opened. If I waited until my KP HC spot came up, I might be waiting another 4-5 months since I'm around 100 in the KP HC gpu queue. Even though it might cost me a little more money to do my open loop KP gpu, it's my money and I can do what i want with it. The hybrid was also released earlier so people who bought that gpu have been waiting for the release of the HC kits for their gpus as well. Not offering them options would be like selling them short so there are two sides to the coin here.
I don't like that anyone could buy the HC conversion kit. If it was offered to anyone who bought or who was going through the process of buying a hybrid kit I'm all for it since we have seen some go on ebay. But it isn't so I appreciate the fact that EVGA developed one for the GPU I am in the process of getting. My timing is just about perfect as my spot for the KP HC kit came up one day before my notify came in for my hybrid kit.
But everyone had a chance to get into the queues just like the GPUs so it's about as fair as it could be other than having those with no interest in open looping their system getting it just for the purpose of making a few bucks.

Thanks Mech9t5, I'm really glad you were also able to get your water block kit ordered as well. My hybrid GPU might sit for a bit since I'm not really keen on rebuilding my system again so soon. I just completed my open loop last month, and I got my new 5950 I was lucky enough to score at MSRP from Amazon yesterday as well. I might want to wait to see how much longer it might take Optimus to release the 1st batch of water blocks for the Kingpin before I make plans to install my new GPU when it gets here. A couple of the tubes are more than likely going to need to be re-done because the change of GPUs no matter which block I put on the Kingpin. I'm now committed to the Kingpin which is why I would want to do it just once. One of my challenges is going to be bench testing the Kingpin when it comes in. I would want to do it as soon as possible, but I am missing ram and NVME drives to complete another system to test. I might ask my local pc shop to help me out to bench test my new Kingpin just to make sure it works before I pack it away and wait. Sounds a bit crazy, but I'm already using a 3090 with the Optimus block so I'm in no real rush to install my Kingpin.
I hope your conversion goes well with your KP EVGA water block. I figured your conversion is a place holder as well as I believe you want the Optimus block as well.
Yes you're right, I still want to the Optimus. I was debating whether to buy the block kit or not when I received the email. I am thinking that I will go with soft tubing for now and if/when I get the Optimus, I'll change over to hard tubing.

Used to have one of all of them, but I had a habit of using them... all the time. In a bit of a credit rebuild, limiting what I have access to. "Trying" to not use credit cards, but this is definitely an exception.

You can pay via paypal with your discover card...if it's the cash back card, you get 5% cash back this quarter on purchases made through paypal with your discover card...just bought my kingpin hybrid today via this method and got $75 cash back by paying through paypal

It really wouldn't be like them selling you short. You knew what you were buying and could have waited, this only ****s over everyone.

Like I said, two sides to the coin. You can also wait your turn to get your HC kit as well like the others have including myself or wait for KP HC GPU if that's your choice. It didn't mess me up so I'm not complaining. I'm sure there others who bought the KP hybrids early who have gotten their HC kits to convert their hybrid cards into open loop system aren't complaining either. It is not a perfect system, but it's still fair to those who stand in line and wait their turn.

But why convert a hybrid to a HC? To do your own cooling config?

Not really unless you are like me and would have to wait much longer to get the HC KP card instead. If you already bought the Hybrid and wanted to open loop it it would save you a ton of time by not having to register for the gpu queues instead. To me, it was a lot easier getting through the block only queue at release than it was trying to get into the actual GPU KP HC queue and since i was already in the hybrid queue it was a no brainer for me unless I got an early queue entry time for the KP HC GPU which I did not. There is a performance difference between the HC and Hybrid kits. The open loop does allow for increased cooling over a larger area and depending on the block you choose the difference could be significant. I thought initially that the AIO would be fine, but then I realized when I entered the queue that i would need to change something in my setup because I wasn't able to run dual 360mm rads in my old case/setup. If I was going to change my case and other components, I figured I redo the whole system which started out as a strong mid level 1080p pc and ended being a no holds bared 1440 gaming machine which is limited by by my monitor more than anything. When I entered the queue for the hybrid back in January I did not intend to open loop my system. But after more thought I figured if i was going to go that far I mind as well go all the way. For me, it's a matter of choice that I preferred to do based on who I am and what I want. There is no one way to do it, it is more what does the end user want to do in most cases. Also, because the KP HC was not released but we knew it was coming I entered the queue hoping that they would have the HC kit as a standalone available at a later time.

I also thought about doing the soft tubing for the meantime and might end up doing the same for the two connectors to the GPU. I might just say screw and do the hard tubes as it would give me another reason to bend tubes which I don't really mind too much. Setting up my bending rig is more of an issue that the actual bending the tubes themselves. Plus I bought a ton of PETG to do my system and my friend's one but over estimated the amount of PETG I thought I would need so I do have a ton left to do what I need. I'm just getting lazy to be honest and with the 3090 it makes me even more lazy to press to do anything now. Heck I might just stare at the box for a month or so knowing what is inside of it. That is of course after I get it bench tested to make sure it works.

Is there any real reason to convert a Hybrid to a hydrocopper?
I am having doubts over mine, my current aio temps are lower (43*c max gaming, 48*c max ive seen benchmarking) than what my 2080ti temps were (41*C initially then jump to like 45-46*C) with an ek block on it, and i have 2 360s and a 420 rad loop. Still probably gonna try it cause right now my loop is a bit overkill for my cpu, sort of, and cause i probably have the most ghetto 3090 kingpin build with my aio rad outside the case on the top of it lmao.

I'm guessing there will be some kingpin hybrid stragglers given the amount of movement on that queue over the past 2 days but probably not the HC version
