whiteskymage Jacob, any news about the X99? Intel will release the Haswell-E together with the Haswell Refresh...
They are going to tell you they can only talk about items that have been released. Everyone is still speculating, but I think it breeches their contracts if they release info, so until they are allowed, there isn't much point in asking. They will immediately post a sticky thread when they are able, so we have to be patient and stop bugging them with questions they aren't allowed to answer.

I'm looking to upgrade from my Z68 SLI and 2700k. The Z97 looks like it is a great choice however I'm waiting to see how the bios functions. I learned my lesson with the Z68 SLI.

Why do I need a Z97 motherboard? Is there something wrong with my Z87? I'm not even aware of a new CPU. My 1-year old Haswell works fine, thank you. But if I were building a new system, would I go with Z97?

lehpron Other than SATA Express, I don't get the point of these boards; granted Intel has to do something to sell the Haswell refresh. I don't blame them as a company, rather the gullibility of customers willing to pay so much for such little gains. I seriously hate you people, you're only telling Intel it is okay to do as they do; it doesn't matter if I expect more for my money.
EVGA_JacobF Trying something different this time It is hardly trying if you guys are maintaining that overdone, cliche and annoying color of black. Why not pay homage to your older own EVGA nForce 4 series boards?

So, not signed in in a long long time. I have been disappointed by EVGA in the area of their motherboards and so the last two systems I have built I have ceased using their motherboards. I saw the email about this article and went Ok, Ill atleast go look. I have to say I am disappointed again. The problem is not the hardware. The hardware has always been great. Not always the combination I have wanted but always the setup I have used. Its the firmware that turned me away from using EVGA Motherboards (I still use your graphic cards :D) because after spending $500 on a motherboard and spending 6 hours trying to update the firmware to a point where I could install an OS on to the system.. I gave up. But here is the 'return to greatness' with a 'GUI BIOS that is focused on functionality, new software interface for overclocking in the O.S.' OMG This could be just the concern I have addressed! So I start looking through the images ... and not a single picture description or anything on the article about the BIOS except that tagline tacked on to every single one of the motherboard's descriptions. So I guess I have to say I remain disappointed and untrusting of the ease of use of these motherboards.

Yeah no hate intended toward EVGA--love my GTX 660! Will keep buying EVGA cards, extremely great quality! In fact, I'll be buying a GTX 760 soon. But, I don't get the Z97, must be I'm not up to date on Intel announcements. I have a MSI Z87-G45 motherboard and it's extraordinary, the best motherboard I've ever owned, paired with an i5 Haswell. It has a good GUI BIOS and it was only $150.

I hate my Z68 SLI with a passion. Speed step does not work, load line calibration works but has to say it is off to be on; do you know how many damn hours it took for me to figure that crap out in order to get a stable overclock? XMP profiles do not work. I also hate the marvel network nic. Marvel should just implode and cease to exist.

I haven't heard anything good about an EVGA motherboard except how fast their RMA service is since I owned my E-173 750i SLI board. As much as I plan to buy a Z97 motherboard from someone, EVGA is out because they're pink of all colors. Don't even think of trying to sell me on them being red. I might be stupid but I ain't color blind. Ewwww!!!

Some people love that, look example this simple red as you can see every day on toys. Really is damn ugly. OK I love red as on SR-2 and my motherboard. But EVGA must continue to work on BIOS and functions. Visual their boards are far best and they don't even to try hard. Others finish that job easy because make jokes. Complete electronic design sit on east culture and you see what happen than, such colors and design is very hard to make worse than that.

Just get an Asus board. Each company is good with some parts and bad with others. EVGA GPUs > Asus GPUs but Asus MBs > EVGA MBs, even though most companies have same reputation these days :)

EVGA motherboards are definitely included in hardware I like absolutely same as graphic cards. Because of that I would like to make success with X99 more than anything. P55 series - X58 series and SR-2 motherboard are 5-6 years ahead of its time. Nice, black, black/red motherboards.

GTX 760 is 20% faster than GTX 660. The 780 is twice the price for nowhere near twice the performance.

A 760 generally falls between a 670 and a 660 Ti. Not really sure where you get that it's a re-branded 660.

I like the new color scheme on the Z97. The FTW board could lose the red as well. Red highlight boards are nice and love the look of them but the change EVGA did on the Classy and the Stinger is a nice clean look. Good work fellas!

So far this motherboard is the only one with 2 pci-e 16x slots and that has the extra power for the pci-e slots. But i do have the power booster that can travel with me :) I wish the ftw board had two 16x slots.

Only people that will notice a difference between 16x16 and 8x8 are people who like benching. Playing games you won't be able to notice a difference. very few people will ever need extra PCI-E power on Z97. It's anyone guess if EVGA will make release date or not.

Looking at the EVGA Z97 Classified and the GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 Black Edition mobo's. Gigabyte one has Sata Express and both support 3 way sli....decisions, decisions. I like the Sata options. Both are the same price. I really wanted to get the EVGA one and may still but wish they had included the m.2 or Sata Express on the Classified like they did the FTW one.

That is the truth. I have the Z87 Classified, and it says 2x16, 3x8, 4x8, but if you install three cards, anywhere, it is going to run at *x8... I have 3 cards in, and turned the lane off to the middle card to run at 2x16 and it stayed at 2x8. It can still detect the card and doesn't even help with benching much, because it has to run through the PLX. it helped a little, but having three way at x8 helped much more.

I've ordered my Z97 Classified at Amazon.ca (they are the only store with a decent price way bellow what Newegg and NCIX are asking). Should be here in 2 to 4 weeks. It will be my first EVGA board since the original Classified. Anyone seen reviews of the Classified somewhere? I was hoping to get confirmation that there are no big BIOS issues this time around.

I knew there was very little difference between 8x and 16x slots, but its still the only board i've seen with 16x - 16x. As for the extra power molex for the pci-e lanes, i've burnt out a 1000w corsair powersupply and 2 motherboard's 24 pin connector using 2 480's and unless they changed something internally i will take the extra power for the pci-e lanes. With the evga power booster the 12v is @ 12.4 and without the booster the 12v sits at 11.96. But i got a free upgrade to a 1200 that works perfect. But the 1200 has its power to a single rail instead of split rails but i did have the split rails in the correct destinations. Right now i'm trying to decide EVGA z97 classified or Asus deluxe. I hate Asus for their support but i love the options i get on the boards. I'm just waiting for june 2 to see the options with devils canyon, the rumor is devils canyon will be available for the end of june. Or delayed until Sept. That's a year i can wait until i see what the other options will be with ddr4.
