If AMD had any gpu availability I wouldn't even consider this 3080 ti launch. 980 ti $699, 1080 ti $699, 2080 ti $999, 3080 ti $1199. Nvidia has lost their mind. I thought the $300 msrp increase from the 10 to 20 series was stupid. Now we are $500 over the old price standard. If I could get a 6800 XT or 6900 XT at msrp I would already have one. Instead I'm stuck with a 3070 I finally got in the queue that has the same amount of vram as my 1070 did but came out a half decade later. I really can't stand Nvidia's tactics. If EVGA wasn't such a good company I wouldn't even consider another rtx gpu. Or if AMD had stock in. 8gb is not enough ram for 2021. Hell my heavily modded Skyrim maxes out my 1080 ti vram at 4k and the game is 10 years old. I can't play anything at 4k without stuttering. I had hope that the 3080 ti would be priced to complete with the 6900 XT, but instead Nvidia will take advantage of the supply situation and sell us an inferior product for more money. Every card this generation should have been made with 2 gb ram modules. How disappointing this whole generation has been.

So sell your 3070 and buy a 6800 xt.

They sell for within $100 of each other.

Hell, there's even a good chance someone will straight up swap you on r/hardwareswap

So I've signed up on Elite last month and I've received 30% off coupon, can I really use it on a RTX 3080 Ti ? That would be dope.

I've read the TOS under the Elite page and it doesn't mention anything on limitation. But the codes expires after 90 days

i would just ask EVGA on that.

Id be surprised if the 30% will work

will not work.. for sure xD

I wonder how much faster it will be compared to a 3080? Probably not worth the upgrade but still

theoretically should be right in the middle of the 3090 and 3080. Guess we will see tomorrow when reviews go live.

Yep that's what I'm thinking

I don't even plan on using the 20% coupon thingy I got off. What's the point? I'll just be happy to get a 3080 Ti and call it a day. I've had computer parts sitting in a box accumulating since August of 2020 with the last part bought I think in November or December of 2020.

Let the F5 battles begin.  Been in the queue for a 3070 for over 7 months now.  Hoping to get an earlier spot this time.

So I've signed up on Elite last month and I've received 30% off coupon, can I really use it on a RTX 3080 Ti ? That would be dope.

Weird, just read the TOS and no mentions on RTX 3000 series there.

Sorry but where exactly? I didn't see that anywhere.

And you're telling me that the 20% code I've been keeping for a couple of weeks now won't work on a 3080 card? I don't see why it wouldn't...

Is it worth upgrading deom 3080 to 3080Ti though? hmmmm. But those extra cuda cores!!!

IG no, 2 GB and chip upgrade will make the number go higher, but I'm not sure it's that worthy. Only if you that kind of person selling your 3080 for $2k and so you upgrade with a profit.

True. I'm already running my games at very good fps on my 1440p 144hz monitor. It's probably a waste of money, unless I get it and sell my 3080 to cover the msrp of 3080Ti. It'll be a like a free upgrade... I went from 2080 to 3080 and only paying 200 difference when i sold the former back in Nov.

go for it if that's what you truly want. The reviewers in a day should make your decision tho.

yeah, really looking forward to what the reviewers say but if anything, it'll be like gaming on a 3090... imo

It will, indubitably, perform within 5% of a 3090.  It's a straight hardware bump, there's really no need to bother with reviews.

As for OP's question on whether it's worthwhile upgrading from a 3080, well, depends...  If you're gaming at 1440p or 4k and don't need >90FPS, probably not.  If you game at 4k and you have a high refresh display (for the few of us who do...), probably.

In any case, $1200 (likely more when retail prices are revealed) is pretty steep for any card.  I'm fine (more than fine, really) with my 3080 for the time being, and likely until next gen.

I've got sli 80/ti class cards going all the way back to 780 (like both of each version except 2080 where I just had the 80 ti there and just the one card past that)

Do we know the review embargo lift date?

Also, someone mentioned it already, but BLACK and BLACK GAMING SKU models are gone. I've had two RTX 3080 waiting with these skus. I'm guessing they were phased out.
