a noteworthy overclocking feat of 5.30 GHz with all cores enabled, under air cooling. No LN2 this time. An enthusiast with access to an i7-9700K chip and an unknown motherboard posted blurrycam pictures of their setup and a CPU-Z screenshot showing 8-core/8-thread config, and 12 MB L3 cache, confirming this is an i7-9700K. The multiplier of this chip is dialed up to 53.0x, which multiplying the untouched base-clock works out to ~5.30 GHz. The core voltage made it to the screenshot - 1.215V. If true this is a fantastic achievement using only air cooling.

1.215V is amazing for that clock speed, but is it stable?

I would be surprised if the user wasn't using a "slow mode" switch to keep the frequency low during boot-up and application launching and then disabled slow mode in order to capture an unrealistic screenshot.

But they are not showing what the AVX setting in the Bios are set to.
You can set it to 10 and overclock easy and also No Hyper Threading on this CPU.
Funny "Intel's upcoming 8-core/8-thread Core i7-9700K" So is it 8 Cores or 8 Threads
Being with HT a Thread is half a Core like my 4 Core 8 Thread CPU

It's simply 8 cores with no Hyperthreading. Have you ever benchmarked your cpu to see it's how much higher the Gflops are with HT off? Never compare this cpu to a 4 core/ 8 thread cpu.

Yes and Posted here on the Forum.
I am Not Comparing This CPU's but the Core and Thread Counts and said it was Funny.

    # of Threads

A Thread, or thread of execution, is a software term for the basic ordered sequence of instructions that can be passed through or processed by a single CPU

    # of Cores

Cores is a hardware term that describes the number of independent central processing units in a single computing component (die or chip).

Why is the 8 cores 8 threads odd to you?

    i5-8600K is 6 cores 6 threads

For me is only one thing important and nothing else.
Is it i9-9900K capable to work stable on 5.0GHz on all 8 cores with HT Enabled.
Personally, I would use that setting and that's enough to say it's great product.
Even if 1.300V and watercooling are necessary.

It is still all Hear Say until Released.
Specs for the two as-yet unannounced CPUs in the next generation of Intel processors may have seeped out onto the web. If they're correct, Intel is bumping both the i9-9900K and i7-9700K to eight cores; the i9-9900K will get a boost clock to 5GHz on two of the cores and up to 4.7GHz on all. Intel's K series of processors are the unlocked versions that can be overclocked.

The i7-9700K however, will be very close -- it will boost to 4.9GHz on a single core (4.8GHz on two), or 4.6GHz on all cores. The difference is the i7 is dropping hyperthreading, the technology that gives you eight threads on a quad-core processor, for example. At four cores, the most common popular optimization for most software, the i7-9700K boosts to 4.7GHz and the i9-9900K to 4.8GHz. So the gap between the the two processors many not be that large for tasks that don't take advantage of hyperthreading or more cores.

No, threads are still relevant as that how software works.

Also if Intel didn't put Threads in the specs, people would accuse Intel of hiding the number of threads the software will use on the cpu.

I'm just explaining why the Threads are listed on the cpu specs. Threads don't become irrelevant because the cpu does not have Hyperthreading.

I've got pricing. I looked in my suppliers and one has it for $497 CAD (my cost). Not sure what MSRP will be yet though.

    $377 USD cost (roughly)

I fine it odd that they are going to call it an i7- 8 cores 8 threads. If no HT call it an i5 like all the other i5's with no HT.
Like Nvidia messing up/with the nomenclature order. Why make it so confusing.
