This is my story.
 
For a few weeks I have been camping out every hour of every day, trying to get a 3080 FTW3 Ultra. I always wanted an FTW3 Ultra card.
I know that xc3 and black cards weren't an option for me. Although I was on this forum refreshing constantly to check for updates, I missed (by about 15 minutes because I had a work-related conference call) the Adorama post that went up mid-afternoon Friday. I have been following closely to everyone's story, as well as binging all the latest Gamers Nexus and modder overclocking websites.
 
Anywho, I noticed a thread last night that said EVGA Elite memberships are available now. I rushed into my closet to grab my Z490 Dark K|ngp|n (arguably harder to attain than the 3080) and EVGA 1000W Titanium PSU and registered them at 8:15 p.m. EST.
 
This morning I went and checked the Elite member area and there was a 3090 FTW3 Ultra... a huge leap forward for me, but I definitely wanted a FTW3 Ultra and I knew that 3090s would be even in shorter supply. This isn't the first time a miracle has happened for me on EVGA.com--
 
I have a similar story trying to get the z490 Dark... which I was refreshing since MAY of this year and was only able to get one in September. But to my amazement, the rare K|ngp|n variant came out for a limited time during Sept 5 weekend, overlapping the Z490 Dark. If I was not refreshing and keeping up with the news compulsively, I would not have been able to EVER get this motherboard!!!

I was lucking enough to grab one too.  Had to refresh and redo pages a few times along the way and kept spamming the submit order button at the very last step until it actually completed.  Lots of errors along the way but I found you had to keep trying on to the next step.  Took 13 minutes in total to get it to be accepted and an email sent.

That’s how I felt about the Adorama post from last week. I’m glad I learned my lesson. I’ve found people on this forum to be extremely helpful in keeping an ear to the ground.

It wouldn't have mattered. I knew and tried for 90 minutes and fail-whaled. I actually got a ic3 card on newegg only to have my order voided due to insufficient stock. /shakesfist

As they say here in the South "God bless your heart"... if getting a GPU is a miracle for you... you most definitely need it more than I do.

Maybe, maybe not. I vied for a 3080 on 6 different websites on launch, and 3 different sites during various restocks after that. I wasn't even able to get anything into my cart. This time around, I was able to get two 3090s in my cart via the elite member page. One got sold out while I was refreshing but I was able to grab the second card about 8 minutes after 6am. I'm sure I got lucky somewhat, but given how terrible the last rounds went, this was 100% better. I'm thinking there's something to what EVGA tried to do with this launch for their prexisting customer base.

Pretty sure that's just a figure of speech and not a literal use of the term. It's like someone being hungry and saying they are "starving". We all know they aren't literally starving, and understand the intent behind the verbiage.
