Hi
I was wondering if this connection would be safe and acceptible. I have this vga cable that goes from [8 pin male] to [6+2pin male and 6 pin male] but my GPU needs two 8 pin power. I used one of these 8 pin splitter that comes with the GPU and connected on 6 pin male so I can connect two 8 pins with this one cable. Would it be safe to connect like this? I am leaving one end of splitter unconnected. I am doing this because I cannot use 2 separate cables on current set up. Please take a look at the pic.

It will be "safe and acceptable" but you'll need to have sufficient power coming from a single rail to supply your needs. If you start getting random reboots a new power supply should solve the problem.

I don't know if its wise to do what you're considering doing.  What Power supply and GPU do you have?

8-pin PCIe power cables are rated for 150W but 6-pin ones are only rated for 75W.

While the 6-pin connectors can handle the 150w, the wire used might not be able to.  Power supplies tend to use the thinnest gauge wire whenever possible.  All the ones in recent years also tend to use aluminum wiring which has much higher resistance which will result in voltage drops, higher current draw and the wire getting hot (if you throw too much current at the wire). - Also when you throw adapters into the mix you're adding extra resistance with every connector.

    Edit: Oops'd a word

I always say if your PSU needs adapters to power your graphics card, you need to save up for a better PSU before spending all that money on a graphics card that needs adapters from your PSU to run.  This of course is my opinion and only that.

Seriously bad idea, OP.  This is how fires happen.  I agree with segno726 that you should get a better power supply.

I wouldn't recommend doing what you're attempting to do. Get a new psu.

If your power supply lacks the needs connectors, it can't reliably power your device. Overloading a power supply is a very bad idea.

+2 Seriously spend the money and buy a new power supply.  You don't want to have an electrical fire and have your entire rig go up in flames.  Do not skimp on power.  It's a bad idea.
