Hello guys,
I'm new to the Forums. I hope you all had some great Xmas days!
Since xmas I'm a proud owner of the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra. I also got a new motherboard and a new power supply.
Beside of flashing the motherboard's BIOS I didn't do anything yet.
(See specs below)
What's the best way to connect the 3090 with my power supply and motherboard, and how many cables should I use or avoid?
Available PCIe connections from PowerSupply
12V3 ; 12V4 ; 12V5 ; 12V6
; 12V5/12V6
Motherboard:
24pin ATX
(the cable splits into 19pin + 8pin. The PSU has an 8pin connection called "MB")
6pin PCIe_x16
auxiliary power connector. Do I need this?
Hardware:
EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra
Gigabyte x570 Aorus Xtreme
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 12
1500W
Tons of cables
Kind Regards, DC18V

3 separate pci-e cables from the psu to gpu. One from 12v4, one from 12v5, and one from 12v6.
Plug the 6-pin aux just to be safe as well.

Oké thank you!
In case you got time to answer these questions:
1) On your diagram, the 12V lanes are marked with a B, but the bigger one to the right is marked with an A. Does that mean anything?
2) Where exactly do I plugin the PCIe cable for that 6pin ?
3) Do you know if dedicated lanes (12v3 ; 12v4 ; etc.) are galvanically isolated, thus potentially able to avoid coil whine and other issues?

1. You want them all on B. If your system shuts down under load you’ll need to put the psu in ock mode via the jumper.
2. A on psu diagram. The aux power connector is hidden under a plastic piece on your board under the last pci-e slot. You’ll need to remove the plastic piece to access the aux power connector.
3. No idea.

Happy new year!
I just wanted to say that I finished building the system and it works pretty well. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't crash. (only one time and that was when I tried to manually overclocked the 3090.)
CPU temps are a bit high, but usually below 80*C and 50-60*C in idle. Max GPU temp: 75*C. (with the OC beta BIOS and 112% power limit.)
Thanks again!
