I have a new Corsair AX850 running my i7 3770K 4.2 OC / four 2400 memory sticks no OC / H100 CPU Cooling / 7 case fans / GTX 690 +130 Core offset OC no memory. (System build in signature).

I'm having game freezes during Crysis with graphics to 'enthusist' except for AAx16 is turned down to AAx8. I will have game lock ups and no driver stopped responding error messages.

I even tried putting it all to stock with same result. Card hits 71C-74C temps max.

I've heard of people running two GTX 580's with 850 watts. Ran CMD sfc /scannow and did not find any integrity violations. I cannot imagine it's my PSU but the game freezes seem to point to a power issue.

Anyone?

That PSU should easily be good to go, however, doesn't mean it isn't failing. Do any other games or apps show this behavior?

Sounds more like a card issue. An AX850 should be able to power all of that fine.

New PSU - guess it could be failing however. Could try replacing it.

I just downloaded the patch 1.1 for Crysis Warhead. Can't imagine that will fix it will try later today when I have time.

Played a little Crysis 2 Ultra mode DX10 - not texture DX11 patch yet and it did fine. Kept 100 FPS average without any dips.

Yeah I thought 850 watt is more than enough myself too.

My AX850 runs my 2 670 FTWs fine - should be about the same power consumption.

Overclocking can seriously increase power demands, and video card temps can be measured in the wrong place to show actual overheating. I'm not saying these problems exist in your rig, likely you have more than enough power supplied and the temps are accurate enough, but these are things to keep in mind.

In my case even when bringing everything down to stock settings CPU & GPU (I don't OC my RAM) I had this same instance occur.

Just remember, that if you use a higher power supply or two for that matter wanting quad SLI, overkill maybe, but the power efficiency is much better when a PSU is not strained at it's upper margins.

I think he just wants one 690 to work properly.

Haha, you have more than enough power. The PSU can be failing, but not due to overloading.

The 690, I have isolated the wattage used just for it to 280 Stock and 320-340 OC with OC (This is wattage at full load wether it be gaming or folding full load), and thats from the wall. So from a Bronze rated PSU you are looking closer to 250 Stock and 300-315 with an OC.

I run 3-27 Inch Yamakasi Catleaps at 8080x1440, with a 4th 25Inch Monitor at 1920x1080, a pair of speakers, a printer, and My PC all plugged in to the same Kill-a-watt module, and when cpu and gpu all under full load, my system is pulling 600-620 watts from the wall. (27 inches pull ~65-68 each, and the 25 is pulling about 45-46. Pretty close to 250 watts just from the monitors.)  And about 540-560 while gaming since the CPU is not maxed out.

PC specs are in the sig below. So its not overloading your PSU unless its just failing, but id look to something else as the issue.  Cuz the AX850 will pull closer to 1000 Watts from the wall before it hits the RMS power, but will go much past that before it overloads.

For my animation like Adobe and other stuff along with all the programs I have I will need a 1.2Kilowatt PSU for any new GPUs.

Try and see if you are getting any artifacts in that evga program that tests for it. dunno what it's called, never tried it.

I run a corsair tx850 with my 690., plenty of power. I think what you are seeing is a driver issue. I personally have no issues in any game maxed out but the driver always crashes in the 3dmark 11 combined test. Ive tried 301.33, 301.34 and 301.40 all with that same result. Hopefully the next driver will be more stable. For comparison here are system specs.
