Hello...first time poster here looking for info on how the 2060 Super does with RDR2. I built my gaming PC what seems like a lifetime ago...close to a decade I think. I'm running Windows 7 with an EVGA X58 SLI mobo, Intel i7-980X with water block, 16GB RAM, a 1TB Samsung Pro SSD (forget exactly which one, not the newest gen, last gen) and SLI EVGA GTX 580 3GB Hydro Copper cards. One of my EVGA 580s just died after all these years (I think, it may just need re-seated more forcefully but the cards are so old and SLI is barely used anymore so I really don't notice any worse performance with just one card), and even if they both still worked, I'm long past being able to run any game I want at 1920x1200 with max settings at a locked 60FPS, which is a requirement for me. I don't game nearly as much as I used to, which is why I am still using such old hardware.

When Intel announced that the new i9-10980XE cards were going to be $1,000 (what I paid for the 980x all those years ago) instead of the ASININE two grand, I was planning on doing a full system upgrade with a Hydro Copper 2080 Ti, 128GB of RAM, EVGA X299 board and the whole nine yards. As you can tell by my current rig (I guess you have to imagine it is 2009 or so), I spend a fortune once and cry once. I buy the best of the best and live with that for quite a few years. Anyway, with the announcement of the $1,000 Intel CPUs (because I REFUSE to spend two grand on a CPU), I was planning on upgrading for RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077. However, as I was doing my research on which parts to buy, it looks like I should wait for things like PCIe 4 (or even 5 as they apparently might skip a generation) and the next generation of Nvidia cards which will apparently be out sometime in the next 6 months. I'm not going to spend $1,600 on a Hydro Copper 2080 Ti right now when the next gen is 6 months away and the only new games I will play in that span are RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Now that I've written a novel here, the point is I want to spend the least amount of cash I can to get the best performance I can, because whichever card I buy right now will only last me 6 months and then stay in my current rig as a backup system. I want to run RDR2 (and hopefully Cyberpunk) at 1920x1200 on max settings with no ray tracing and get a steady 60FPS at all times. I would like to know if anybody has a 2060 Super and is achieving that kind of performance? I am specifically looking at buying this card: (Edit- I guess I can't post a link so it is the EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC Gaming 08G-P4-3162-KR) and putting the EVGA waterblock on it. A 2070 Super would end up being about $80 more and if I can get by with a 2060 Super instead then that's the way I prefer to go. Anybody have the opportunity to test RDR2 with the 2060 Super I linked above? I know pretty much everybody will have a MUCH newer CPU/mobo/RAM/etc than I do, but I don't think anything I am running will "bottleneck" my performance in RDR2 with a 2060 Super at 1920x1200, even though my mobo is still using PCIe 2. Thanks for any help.

Looks like you should be good:

Also be aware that the i9-10xxxX prices being kicked around the forums are for the OEM RCP qty 1000, so count on the actual street price being a bit more, maybe as much as 15% or more like the 9900KS currently has ($513 vs. $600).  Still a deal though.

Microcenter was just blowing out their stock of current X series at 25% to 40% off and most are sold out.
