Hello everyone, I know I may get flamed for this but I have looked and looked and can not find how to disable Physx on the 470; does anyone know how? Thanks in advance.

have you looked in the nvidia control panel? under set physX and SLI settings it should be there.

Open the Nvidia control panel and under "3D settings" is "Set PhysX Configuration" which allows you to disable it.

Its not. Thats the problem lol. I remember on the older drivers there was a whole physx tab, now its combined with the SLI tab. But there is no "Turn physx off" button that I have found, which is why I am asking here.

Yup yup, sure does. So set it to CPU? That does not disable it, just tells a different processor to do the processing for the engine.

You can go to your Programs list and uninstall "Nvidia PhysX". The option might still be there there, but it wont function.

HazMatt, Thanks for that option but I was trying to figure out how to disable, not uninstall. I have always known I can do that, just looking for the disable ability.

to be honest why would you want it off? only a few games take advantage of it and if your benchmarking set it to cpu as thats how ati has to do it, most of the time anyway there was a way to do it a while back.

XrayMan, That option is not available. Those options are available for the older drivers, not the 258.96Beta or the official released ones.

Xperry, Because for some reason at www.hwbot.org when I submitted my results, they were denied because I had it enabled. Now what I do not understand is, they would not take my score with the PhysX enabled but want it without? That would do nothing but raise my score, so I do not really understand why they do not accept submitted scores with the PhysX enabled. So this is why I am trying to figure out how to disable it for a bench run. Its really stupid I know.

I also just tried Uninstalling PhysX and 3DMark Vantage would not run without it, gives a .dll error because it tries to use it if its enabled. So that may disable it, but makes 3DMark Vantage not functional.
Reinstalled PhysX and its fine. So guess there is no way to turn it off. I really do not know, which is why i was hoping someone here would.

@Nite, Nvidia say's by selecting the CPU option, the GPU physx gets disabled. Doesn't that answer his question regarding how to disable the GPU physx? Or is he saying disable it totally?

Specifically what he was looking for was disabling GPU PhysX for a valid Vantage run for Hwbot... Ok, this is how you Disable PhysX. Under the 3D Settings, find the CUDA setting. When you Uncheck each GPU, this disables PhysX. Dont believe me? Do the same thing, and then open GPUZ. You will see the checkboxes empty. Now to enable it, just reverse and check GPUZ again. They will now be checked if you enabled the CUDA cores. Thanks again to all who helped.

Setting PhysX to run on the CPU is valid for a Vantage run. On the old driver is said "Disable PhysX" <-- all this did was force PhysX to run on the CPU.
