How I sleeve cables

Since the photos on the stickied thread aren't showing any longer I wanted to show how I do my sleeving on the pins. 
I get my supplies from Mod-One and they are all top quality.  I tried using some cheaper heatshrink in a pinch and it was a disaster.
My supplies  

 
Then I cut the heatshrink about 3/4" or 19mm, doesn't have to be perfect because you'll just melt the end and pull it off later.  Just don't waste heatshrink.

And evidently I'll have to seek a different way to get my photos in due to total file size restrictions.

    Slide heatshrink into place just behind the vertical stops of the pin.

     
    Then, with a lighter, evenly burn the pin end of the heatshrink until it ignites and blow it out.

    Pull off heatshrink with pliers from the wire toward the pin while it's still soft and pliable.
     

    Notice how the sleeving is melted to the pin nice and tightly.  If done correctly it will not pull off while stretching the sleeving over the wire and do the other end.  I do one wire at a time with stock cables as to not have to figure out which pin goes where.  When sleeving is installed just insert the pin back into the connector with the vertical stops toward the retaining clip of the connector (the piece you sqeeze to release it from the power supply or component).  Here's a budget tip,  if you are on a short budget for this project then just sleeve the portion of the wire that shows and leave the heatshrink on the other end of the sleeve.  I did this with my stock EVGA 24 pin connector due to the capacitors on the motherboard end of the cable.  I only sleeved to the capacitor but it is hidden by the passthrough of the case.  Doing this saves sleeve material and also time.  It's essentially the same as installing an extension to only see the sleeved wires.

    I'm very sorry I couldn't figure out how to do this post in a single post but the photos would not load into one post.  I didn't want to shrink them down so much that I would lose image quality due to the small nature of the parts you deal with doing this.

    You could also get yourself a heatgun. It does a neat job without burning wire ends.

    Yes, I use a heatgun when I'm "short sleeving" and leaving the heat shrink on but on the pin it's better with an open flame of a lighter so that it melts the sleeve to the pin inside the heatshrink.
