So essentially pay $1500+ to turn the card into a $700 3080 or $600 3070 Ti?

This is ridiculous. People need to stop worrying about temperatures if it means gimping your card and underclocking it to perform worse than a 3080.

If you card is running at 80C, that's not a problem, it's not going to kill your card and you don't need to turn it a 3080 to help you sleep at night.

Undervolting is not "solving" high temperatures.
 
You make it sound you fixed something but you didn't. You got me with this clickbaity title.
