Help with Precision X on-screen display.

I have version 3.0.4 and my GPU is GTX 660.  I've set the toggle on-screen to CTRL+UP, the show on-screen to SHIFT+PageUp and the hide on-screen to SHIFT+PageDown.  I cannot for the life of me ever get the on-screen display to appear.  Do I have to be in a specific game or application for it to display?  Any help would be appreciated.
Another wierd thing.  I can have the on-screen display server open in a small window with the focus on my desktop.  Then if I press the toggle sequence, the server values change - the "start with windows" and the "show on-screen display" both turn off.

    Do you have Precision open when you're in game?
     
    Have you enabled each sensor you want to display? Try going to the Preferences and under the Monitoring tab, select each graph and check "Show in On-Screen Display."

    That was it.  I went in-game and the stats showed up just fine.  I guess I figured it would show up out of game as well.  Thanks for your help.
