Hi All..

I am running a gtx 680 evga classified 4096 SLI on a rampage Extreme running Win 8.

I have upgraded one card successfully to EVGA.GTX770.4096.130729.rom using the simple command "NVFLASH EVGA.GTX770.4096.130729.rom".

The card took...no probs.

Now, I removed the card and installed my second card (was having upgrade issues before..so I decided to remove one card)

When I try to run the command....I get the Error GPU MisMatch (NVFLASH IS V 5.142) ...also tried the joe Dirt Modified NVflash...no go.

Error is:

WARNING: None of the firmware image compatible PCI Device ID's
match the PCI Device ID of the adapter.
Adapter PCI Device ID:        1180
Firmware image PCI Device ID: 1184
WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (3842.3778)
does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (3842.3688).
WARNING: Firmware image Board ID (E12D) does not match adapter Board ID (E10C).

ERROR: GPU mismatch

Now why would my first card take the command, but this card will not??

Also tried pure DOS mode using -4 -5 -6 and --protectoff

Suggestions??

Dave

Why are you flashing a GTX 770 vBIOS to a GTX 680 Classy?

The proper command would be nvflash -4 -5 -6 EVGA.GTX770.4096.130729.rom

If the flash still fails to work try re-downloading, re-extracting & re-flashing the vBIOS again.

    WTH!!

I did the -4 -5 -6 again...and it worked! Methinks it could have been because PrecisionX was running.

    The ROM took!!!

Will need to verify that both of my cards are identical bios wise before I reconnect them to SLI mode! I was having issues before..gameplay would go from 60fps in World of Tanks to 100 then crawl down to 2 to 3 fps. Video was always unstable pausing at times.

I then noticed that there was an updated BIOS file.....and happy as heck that both cards seem to have taken it.

    Tnx guys!

Methinks it could have been because PrecisionX was running.

Possible, or you might have (probably) made a simple mistake somewhere, it's not hard to do in a command line..But yes, you should always return your card(s) to default settings and close any programs/utilities associated with the card when flashing within the OS..Also, I'm sure it would have flashed okay in DOS had you adhered to the 8 character (with exceptions) or less filename limitation before the extension, such as 1234abcd.rom instead of EVGA.GTX770.4096.130729.rom if that's what you were trying to do.

--protectoff removes the write protection, of course.
-4 Allows card vendor ID to mismatch.
-5 Allows PCI device ID to mismatch.
-6 Allows PCI subsystem ID to mismatch.

Now what I would do is use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove the driver and any optional driver components and perform a Custom (Advanced) install of the latest driver, choosing only to install PhysX along with the Graphics Driver and go from there.

    Done and Done!

Thanks for that extra info of removing the driver.....would NEVER have considered it to be an issue before.

When I install my second card (I just want to play around with one card for the time being) shall I run the ddu again??

    Cheers!

Sure, why not..It can't hurt even though it's probably not needed to..But I, being me, would.
