Has anybody had success getting their 2080 / ti to fold?
I tried adding it to the GPU list, and it now recognizes I have a GPU, but very little happened after it downloaded a job. GPU stayed at idle.
In GPU list I put:
0x10de:0x1e87:2:7:GT104 [GeForce RTX 2080]
Thanks for any insight!

Re: Help getting RTX 2080 / 2080 Ti to fold? 2018/09/22 17:46:42 (permalink)
Exit the Client and then Delete the GPUs.txt from the Folding Folder.
Start the Client back up and it will download a new GPUs.txt file and IF Stanford has update the GPUs.txt file with the RTX Series cards you can Fold. If they have not then you will not be able to Fold until the GPUs.txt is hacked and the RTX added.
Have you looked on the Folding Support Forum? Search
GPUs.txt
2080
2080 Ti
Sorry it took me so long to find this
The latest Whitelist can be found here http://fah-web.stanford.edu/file-releases/public/GPUs.txt Not seeing any 2080 or 2080 Ti in the file.
NOTE: It may be easier to download GPUs.txt into the FAH "data directory" and restart the client than to actually go through all the steps.  There are no announcements planned when GPUs.txt is updated so you can just try the latest version first.  There's no harm in trying it.

This is what to code looks like for the 1080/1080 Ti

0x10de:0x1b80:2:7:GP104 [GeForce GTX 1080] 8873
0x10de:0x1b06:2:7:GP102 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti] 11380

I will keep searching out there, maybe someone has what we need.

I did ask over on their Support Forum NVIDIA RTX 2080 & 2080 Ti GPUs.txt Support for RTX

thx bill - it had not been added to the latest GPUs.txt file when i looked at their website. but worth a try on deleting it in case i looked at a older version.

yeah, no luck on deleting and having it download the latest version of GPUs.txt. I guess it'll just be a few days b4 i can test it out.
i'm guessing the various reviewers (anandtech, phoronix etc.) had a beta version I can't get to yet.
thx again:)

Even the latest version of GPUs.txt file has no support for any RTX Cards ATM.

I hope the problem is fixed for you soon yatz10. Let us know how it does in folding. It will get better as the drivers mature also.

I have asked a reviewer friend of mine to try to get me the info on the 2080 and 2080 TI so I can give them to Stanford.  I hope he will do this for me.

I wonder if just adding client-type = advanced will work until the GPUs.txt file can be updated?

Yes, but we still need an updated GPUs.txt file.
Not sure how it got it even run without the settings for the card.

Found It
0x10de:0x1e87:2:7:TU104-400A-A1 [GeForce RTX 2080]
I am thinking that this (TU104-400A-A1) is the Model of the GPU Processor.

@yatz10
Delete the GPUs.txt file to download a new file the RTX 2080 was added.
Then Add client-type = advanced to the GPU

Mine will hopefully be delivered this week from EVGA; from Amazon - I am not holding my breath, no idea on actual deliver yet

You could also find the code in windows device manager. It's part of the device string. Lspci is a standard linux command and ought to be easy enough. Pipe lspci into a text file and peruse at your leisure.

Yep, Method 2 and 3 use it Per 3 - Adding A Graphics Card To GPUs.txt File
fahclient --lspci
In Windows you have to run the command from C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient or C:\Program Files\FAHClient or where ever you have installed the Client Software
And in Linux from here /usr/bin FAHClient --lspci

Thanks Scott,
Maybe sometime this week the GPUs.txt will get the needed info, we will need this for all the RTX Cards.

This is the info line on the 2080 that is used in the GPUs.txt file.

From 3 - Adding A Graphics Card To GPUs.txt File
Method 1 (Windows)
1) Download and run GPU-Z
2) On the Graphics Card Tab, look for Name and Device ID and note it down
3) Create a New Topic here and post those details from GPU-Z along with a copy of the log file
4) Once it has been confirmed to be a valid entry, the GPUs.txt file will be updated on the Server
5) After the GPUs.txt file has been updated on the Server, locate the GPUs.txt file, delete it and restart the Client
6) The Client will automatically download the latest copy of GPUs.txt file and your GPU should be supported

Method 2 (Windows)
1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient or C:\Program Files\FAHClient
2) Open a Command Prompt window
3) Type fahclient --lspci and hit Enter
4) Copy the output
5) Create a New Topic here and post those details along with a copy of the log file
6) Once it has been confirmed to be a valid entry, the GPUs.txt file will be updated on the Server
7) After the GPUs.txt file has been updated on the Server, locate the GPUs.txt file, delete it and restart the Client
8) The Client will automatically download the latest copy of GPUs.txt file and your GPU should be supported

This is the info that you get back from running the command fahclient --lspci
Folding @ Home need this info of the 2080 Ti Card, can your friend run this command, the Client Software needs to be installed.

This is for the 1080 Ti Card

2080TI over at the folding forums just reported 2.2m ppd.   My FTW will be here soon and we will see.

Those are some nice numbers.  Thanks for the report!

Yeah basically 100K lower than my 2 1080TI's in my machine right now.  Can't wait for the upgrade.

yep I need a 1070, 1070ti and a 1080 to do that production. Think of the power saving.

The 2,2Mio PPD was for the Moment my MAX. The RTX2080ti do an average of 2Mio, the lowest that I saw was 1,5Mio for the WU P11715.

Phanteks Evolv ATX ¦¦ Seasonic Platinum 860W ¦¦ Asus C6H ¦¦ AMD Ryzen 1700 ¦¦ 32gb ddr4 ¦¦ eVGA RTX2080ti XC Ultra ¦¦ EKWB, Waterccol, Aquacomputer Loop :-)
