Looking for a lightweight headset, with good gaming surround or great stereo that dose well with gaming, and under $50, if they’re is such a thing for under $50 that’s worth buying? Games: Day of Infamy Half Life FEAR Crysis Fallout Vegas Looking at doing co-op gameplay, and having not played any kind multiple in many moons ago, so I’m totally out of the loop here. Knight’

I know you said under $50 but if you wanted to spend more to get a better quality headset. Check out HyperX Cloud Alpha headset (3.5mm Stereo). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074NBSF9N/ ($99) - Detachable Mic
- Replaceable cord
- Good sound quality
- Good build quality
Most headset's i have purchased under $50 seem to always break or mic goes out of them within a year.

My vote is on the Corsair as well. If you're willing to splurge a bit more and go for $99, I'd recommend these. Forget surround headsets, you have two ears so stereo is all that is needed. It ruins your positional perception and directional cues in games.

My headset is from Corsair also. They are comfortable, and the sound is pretty good. I recommend the Corsair also.

Saying "Forget surround headsets, you have two ears so stereo is all that is needed. It ruins your positional perception and directional cues in games." is a personal preference which may or may not be true and is game dependant. I never jumped on the virtual surround sound train either until the wife bought me Tritton AX720 Pro when I was strictly console at the time ages ago for Christmas and I can say with confidence that the difference was night and day. In no way did it " ruin my positional perception and directional cues in games.". I could actually tell exactly where a sound was coming from as if I was using my surround sound system(which I was and drove the wife nuts) in FPS and 3rd person games that were over the shoulder, facing forward. I have found what you said to be true in games like Final Fantasy XIV where the camera is above and pans around the character where you aren't always looking in the same direction as the character is facing and I disable the surround sound.

I'm using Sennheiser Game Zero closed acoustics 50 Ohms headset. I didn't care much for 5.1 headsets.

Only gaming headset I'd consider using would be anyone of the Kingston HyperX models. Audio is good for closed back and the mic is one of the best ones on the market otherwise I hate "gaming" headsets. I use AKG Q701 reference studio headphones and small shotgun mic I use to use for my camera mounted on a short arm.

Unless you are playing in a noisy environment, I think the Game Ones are the better set. Open back and a lot more comfortable. Personal preference and all, but if its a quiet environment, there is not much disputing the better sound from open backed headphones.
