I needed a GPU in a hurry a few weeks ago, so I purchased a 2060 EVGA SC ULTRA 6GB from EVGA, with the hope of stepping up to a 3070 today. Now I see that only the premium model is available for step up, and the only difference I can see is the RGB which I would be turning off as soon as possible (my build is completely dark since it's in my bedroom).

Do I have any options or am I really forced to pay ~$400 including shipping to step up to the card I want?

Should’ve bought it from Best Buy...they allow returns until Jan 16th

They all have RGB.  The difference is a higher out of the box boost clock and a different cooling solution.  EVGA has also only offered the FTW3 Ultra versions for step up going back to 9/17 which should have given you a good idea of what the 3070 would bring.

Unfortunately you hesitated too long and are now down on the 3070 list where you would have gotten in time to sell and break even.

You can always see if the list changes but often times doesn’t. As for the card it is more but also has better cooling and features it’s not just RGB only.

I wish EVGA gave us an XC3 model to step up to. I bought a 2060 super to step up to a 3070, but at the end of the day I'll be paying just shy of a new 3080.
