Re: HELP! 1080ti Hybrid Kit installed still getting near 60C temps. 2017/05/16 02:40:01 (permalink)
I installed my Evga 1080 ti hybrid cooler today. Previously I was using a Kraken G12 with a Corsair H90 with one ml140 fan at the back of my air 540 case. After several hours of gaming in gta5 with the gpu at 99% it was hitting at the highest around 50-55c depending on room temp which could be from 21c at the start of gaming to 26c after a few hours. I noticed when i installed the h90 that it didnt seem to make very good contact with the gpu, i think the way the g12 has been redesigned may not do well with some coolers. Now that i have the Evga cooler installed I can say it is better, temps were lower and stayed that way while i played the same game for several hours. The gpu temp was in the 40's most of the time and the highest I saw was 50c with a room temp of 25c, the two ml120 fans were running at 7-8 volts in push/pull with the rad at the back of the case. I have +35 voltage, 115 gpu, 250 memory offset which gets me just over 2ghz stable for now. I plan to oc it a bit higher and see where I can get it. Overall im happy with the Evga cooler though, would defiantly recommend it although I think better fans like the Corsair's I have or some other ones help it out.

I've played around with DIY DD blocks w/oil coolers mounted on the back of the case in an exhaust setup to top mounted external Koolance setups.  Hard to beat a decent cool air intake setup.  But you do need to expel the warm air effectively.

I run these settings:

All my case fans are intake except PS and the ML140 on the back running 40% quiet, 60% normal, and aggressive fan curve for performance.  I never run the Asus FanXpert at 100% anymore with the hybrid kits.  I had to run at 100% with the FTW, FTW2 SLI setups when gaming.

Been playing more games and benching.  Room temps vary from low to upper 70*F.  GPU never went above 54* at highest so far.  That's with my normal or performance FanXpert case fan settings running around 50-70%.  Been playing Doom and BF1 for quick FPS action rounds for an hour and temps have been comparable to other people's norm.  I have my 2/3 ML120 front fans blowing into the OE hybrids in pull setup.  Unless there's a sale on ML120 LEDs, the OE hybrid fans are staying and are fairly quiet in the case with my fan curve above.  Room temps and case setup will be key to CPU/GPU temps.  BTW, EK is push/pull [<--CORRECTED typo] in an intake setup.  So a lot of air is coming in from the bottom, front, and top.  PS fan never runs from what I've seen.  I've covered the perforated holes on the bottom by the PS.  Only exhaust is the vented card slot covers, back perforations, and the ML140.  A lot of positive pressure.

I couldn't help but ask if that was a typo or you actually have your top rad fans in push/push on the rad?

Not sure what happened to the attached pics.  I'll check it when I get home.  EK Predator 360 is push/pull so 6x120mm mounted on top, intake orientation.

Oh ok.  I thought you meant that you possibly had the fans pushing air at each other.  lol

Btw, your images are still there.

What you talking about?  I have two fans stacked on each side to double the airflow and increase pressure...    LOL  More power !!!   just like dual boost cars...  Fast and Furious 13,  Revenge of NOS.

Forgot about security settings on this system...  thanks for the sanity check... been a long day.

For future reference, when you use the terms "push/push", that's telling me you have both fans blowing air at each other because it's pushing air to the rad from both sides.  The way we break it down is, for one fan we say "Push" or "Pull", dependent on its direction of airflow and when using two fans to assist each other, we call it Push/Pull or P/P for short.

All is good.  Just wanted to clarify because I actually have seen some actually Push/Push or Pull/Pull and have corrected them on that.

ROFL    Laughing at myself after I made a joke about dual boost cars.  I made that post last night and didn't even blink at my original typo or your reference.  My bad, meant push/pull.  Sorry to say I've never seen push/push or pull/pull.  BTW, I call that sumo or tug-of-war setup.  I needed that laugh... work is driving me crazy.
