One of the first animes I watched over a decade ago. Own every one of the GITSAC series, and blame it on an avowed OTAKU complex LOL! Trailer looks good ... I think the movie comes out in April 2017 ... however, as a GITSAC purist, would have liked to have seen an Asian actress playing the lead character. Hope the movie does well

So I finally saw it. Pretty awful. There was one cool scene in a bar and Batou was perfectly cast, but there was the out of place multi ethnic team thrown in for diversity and Scarlet was terrible. They could have just made a seedy cyberpunk movie revolving around combating future Yakuza and it would have been much better. Also the entire plot was changed to be a cliche revenge plot which basically ruined anything the original story had going for it. Way too much irrelevant CGI scenes of future advertisements. I kept thinking it was trying too much to capture the magic of the Blade Runner holograph billboard.
Anyone else see it?

I was pretty irritated during, I dunno, 3/5ths of the movie. Too many changes to source material and mishmashing of the original movie and series. Though, the last parts of the movie were at least more entertaining, partly due to segments taken from the original movie and how similarly they were visually and a particular reveal, storywise. I enjoyed the fight with the garbageman, since, to me, its so iconic, but IMO, was done better and made more sense in the original movie. Also, Aramaki being the only one speaking Japanese was odd, I think. That said, I think he was probably one of the best, if not the best, things about the movie.

I went in with such low expectations and also happiness that I was watching big budget live action anime that I enjoyed it. I own many hundreds of anime DVDs and seen many Ghost, and Ghost style, stories that I was not offended it was not a strict retelling. But I was bummed they did not spend more time on the spiritual implications of putting a human in a metal immortal body.
Over all I enjoyed it enough, and it was so pretty in 4K HDR on the big screen, that I got the 4K disk for my big HDR home screen. ^_^

I just watched it a couple days ago. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either. I haven't seen any of the originals though so that might be why I didn't completely dislike it.

If you have never watched the originals then you should not watch the Movie. You should watch at least  Ghost In The Shell 1996 and  Ghost In The Shell 2.0 2010 Not bad as well but the two above will show you just how well they did on this New Movie 2017  Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie 2015 More Ghost in the Shell DVD
