I am looking to buy a good gaming mouse and keyboard.  I have done some research on my own but to be honest the more I research the more confused I am getting - there are so much out there.

So far all I have began to do is to narrow down the preferred manufacturers which seems to be either Logitech, Razer, or Mionix.  I have also heard Cooler Master is decent. But each manufacturer then has another gazillion number of selections!!

I have never owned any gaming mouse or keyboard so all help will be greatly appreciated!!

As you already know, the choices are endless.  What you need to do is decide what features you want and how much you are willing to spend.  The whole money thing can greatly narrow or expand your selection but consider if you want things like:
    - laser or optical mouse
    - lit keyboard
    - macros

I personally have the Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard and Razer Lachesis 5600 dpi mouse.  I love them both but rather than sell you on my hardware I highly recommend you get more feedback, ask questions, and do research.

It's pricey, but I'm getting one of these as my next keyboard. This will probably be soon seeing as how my G11 is on its way out.

I do understand and I do agree with you.

I am looking at this as a long term investment since I do tend to hang on to my things for a while.  That said I am ready to pay a bit more and get the latest and good quality that will last me for a while to come!  From my past experience it eventually pays for itself!!

What is on top of my list is compatibility and "longevity"!!!  I would hate to buy something that is only compatible with a few games or is "game specific", if you know what I mean, and then once all the hype is over only a few, if any game, will support it!!

To add to the confusion I saw that majority of the devices that seem popular have received both good and bad reviews. For example the TRON by Razer looks amazing but I have heard good and bad things about it as some don't think it leaves up to its expectations.

So I thought that I throw this post here and see what majority are pointing at and it seems it is duplicating what I have been reading and that is I think the point you were making is coming in - its a matter of balance of preference, personal taste and cost!!!

I do truly appreciate all the feedbacks and looking forward for more - THANK YOU!

I guess something that would help me out is if I could get some feedback along with the recommendations as to what makes it stand out! And if it helps, I am more into ACTION and FPS games!! Role playing games and thing of that nature don't excite me as much!!

In my research I just came across this: BELKIN N52TE Tournament Edition.  Anyone has had experience with this?  Perhaps I hang on to my inexpensive keyboard and invest into this gadget???

And here is something else similar to that: Logitech G13

EDIT: It seems that Razer has a product that is identical to Belkin: Razer Nostromo
    Talk about being confused!!!!

Unless you are saying that this is not gaming mouse than so be it. It is not W.O.W. mouse I can tell you that. However it is a excellent FPS gaming mouse. What type of games you will be playing?

When it comes to "gaming" keyboards and mice, it really just comes down to what you are comfortable with.  Anything can be marketed as a "gaming" product.  For the longest time I used the standard Microsoft Intelli Mouse (5 button).  I know a few pro gamers also use this mouse as it is comfortable, reliable, and inexpensive to replace.  Just recently I made the switch to a gaming mouse (Saitek R.A.T. 7) and have been very happy with all of its adjustability and features.  But it took a few hours of adjustments for it to feel just right.  But with that said, any new mouse, adjustable or not, will take a little time to get used to.

Keyboards , more than mice, in my opinion have a lot to do with what kinds of games you play.  If you play a lot of WoW and those types, macros are a big deal and I would get a keyboard with those types of features.
Me personally, I only play FPS types of games, so accuracy, response time, and overall durability was my main deciding factors.  I went with the Meka G1 Mechanical keyboard by Thermaltake.  I tried a few other mechanical keyboards and the Thermaltake was by far the best quality out of the ones that I tested.  Once you go to a mechanical keyboard you wont go back.  I cringe every time I have to use someones rubber dome keyboard.

These are mechanical keyboards. That in and of itself is where most of the cost comes from (I can't think of any mechanical keyboards that are under $150 USD). That being said, Decks are also one of the highest end mechanical keyboards (they use the highest quality mechanical switches, put individual LEDs behind EACH key, use top quality build materials, etc).

Basically, this is the kind of keyboard that you only need to buy once.

In all honest avoid Razer products I'm in the process of RMAing my second deathadder 3500 because of a defective mousewheel.

I do however recommend the Cooler Master Storm Inferno :)  soon as it gets back to me the first had a defective memory chip but it was a fast and easy RMA and other than that the mouse was awesome 4000 dpi very responsive with 1ms response. 1000hz polling all the bells and whistles you can think of and all for 50 bucks.

Keyboard well they dont make the one i have anymore G11 i love it and when it dies ill be upset cause i cant replace it.  Id say go with logitech for keyboard.

My favorite gaming mice come from Cooler Master.  Some of the best features for the best prices.  Here is my review on the Storm Sentinel Advance.

    http://www.gnd-tech.com/threads/1219-Cooler-Master-Storm-Sentinel-Advance-Review

Benchmarkreviews.com has reviewed almost every popular gaming mice and the Cooler Master mice have the highest ratings there as well.  I recommend checking out their reviews as well.

They have a mouse for every grip preference - if you prefer the palm grip then get the Storm Sentinel Advance "Z3RO-G".  This is just a Storm Sentinel Advance with twice as much onboard memory (for more profiles I guess) and perhaps the advanced options in the firmware like the Storm Inferno.  The Storm Inferno is said to work great with the palm or claw grip, while the Storm Spawn is designed for the claw grip.

As for gaming keyboards, I go with Logitech because I like their keyboards.  I use the G11, awesome for the price but it has been replaced by now.

If I were you and money wasn't really and issue I'd look into Cyborg gaming mice and keyboards, I really like the look of the R.A.T mouse!

First time I played Skyrim I followed a rabbit into a woddy area on a snowy mountain and punched the poor thing to death and got lost.

The look of the RAT suckered me in for about a week until I returned it.  IMO it is the most "gimmicky" mouse on the market.  I could not find it comfortable in any configuration.

You seem to be one of the only people (forum members and online reviews) that have had this issue. I've been doing a lot of research into the RAT 7 and RAT 9 in the past few days, and it seems to be #1 for my "to replace with" list. What specifically was the issue?

Well, it has been awhile since I sent it back but for starters I have a rather large hand.  You know what they say about guys with big hands right?  Big mouse! LOL.  No, seriously, I just couldn't get comfortable with it.  I changed up all the weights, moved the thumb rest in and out, tried the different length/height attachments and the different pinky rests but just did not like it at all.  Sure, it was cooler looking than anything you can imagine! The one thing I do remember specifically is even thought the thumb buttons adjusted forward and back, even in their most forward position they were still about 1/4" too far back.  Oddly enough my best friend and I bought them at the same time without telling each other (we have one-up issues so we try not to discuss our hardware) and we both returned them very quickly. When it comes to mouse comfort I have to say the most comfortable mouse I have every used is the Roccat Kone and second would be the Deathadder.  My one and only issue with the Deatheadder is it is a bit to light and weight cannot be added.

I have the R.A.T. 7 and it took a good hour or so to get it where I was comfortable with it, and even after that I had to make a few minor adjustments.  But, now it fits my hand like a GLOVE!  The sniper button is awesome, but the back/forward buttons are a little far back there.  That took me the longest to get used to as I use the forward button for my sidearm and the back button for my main weapon in BFBC2.  I lost quite a few 1 on 1  shootouts because I would press the sniper button instead of my sidearm button.

If people are interested in the mouse, I would say get it, and make the adjustments and see how you like it.  It isn't for everyone, but it works great for me.  It is a very solid mouse though, with an aluminum chassis and parts.  It was definitely worth the money for me.

Well I have my own favorite, even though many people may not like it, it is the cyber snipa Stinger mouse that I thought was very comfortable, has weight changes, 3200dpi, etc. There is a new one now, The silencer and it may be worth the price, but I don't have it so I can't say much except add that mouse to the lineup of a recommendation. http://www.cybersnipa.com...ice/silencer-mouse.php used to be 54.99, on amazon though... http://www.amazon.com/CYB...467&sr=1-1-catcorr reverse that 54!
