I have just bought a new GTX 980 ti and installed with the latest drivers. When I'm playing games like arma 2 and dcs world the graphics card usage spikes from around 70% to 100% then drops to zero until I have to restart the game. Has anyone else had this problem and is there anyone who could possibly help me sort this out as its really quite frustrating as I never had any problems with my GTX 780 and now that I have spent a fair bit of money I start getting problems.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum. More details on your system would be really helpful. Hardware details, particularly your PSU model and output. What OS you're running. Are you running stock speeds or overclocked etc etc...

Just a guess, but it's likely possibly overheating. Maybe setting up custom fan profile could help if you haven't done that. If you install EVGA PrecisionX or MSI Afterburner, you can do that, and also monitor the temperatures and lots of other stats that can help diagnose problems like this.

okay i have set up a custom fan profile on msi afterburner to see if that makes a difference, that sort of makes sense due to the fact it can go a couple of hours without crashing then continually crash after i start playing again.

    Thanks for the advice :)

now that you have afterburner running, you'll have more insight into what its doing too. dbl click on the graphs in afterburner (or click 'detach'), and it'll open in a seperate window with many graphs plotting different stats (close the popup window to reattach the graphs to the main window).

I try to keep mine under 70c.
