It means they haven't finalized what the final promised specs with the stock cooler and a greenlit BIOS will be. This really should not concern people too much, we all saw how the hydrocopper was being bottlenecked by the TDP limits on the stock BIOS.

That's what I was thinking , I wanna see what "++" means .  That hydro copper with the same specs for only an extra $50.00 is looking like a sweet deal ... need more info

Should be. Did you enter your payment information? EVGA usually verifies, by phone, any order over a specific amount to make sure someone isn't stealing your info and buying amazing things without your knowledge.

when I made the order they told me that I will later get a mail from PayPal for the payment. I think they will before the shipping starts. I hope I am in line now! :)

Finally after seeing the specs of this card, I am well-content with my purchase of the 980 Classified on NewEgg which I got for $640. The Kingpin is basically the same as the Classified just with a black-plate and single-slot ports configuration. If I didn't buy this Classified last week for $640 price, I still probably wouldn't buy the Kingpin, even though it has a single-slot ports configuration, because it doesn't have Displayport, only miniDisplayports which have a smaller bandwidth. The only thing I like about this KPE is that it has a backplate and single-slot ports configuration. $750 is a good price though, definitely better than pricing between 780TI classified and the KPE which I actually bought from EVGA directly.

Read before assuming. The numbers are NOT final, as has been posted 4 times. If you are buying for numbers only, then be happy with the ones you have.

The PCB is completely different than even the regular Classified, hence why the Waterblock that Ek has made isn't going to fit this card.

Also, this is a preorder. It has 2 more weeks until it is released, and the two masterminds behind this card are still working on the bios, as it has 3, to make sure all of them function properly.

How many times have people. Pre-ordered cars that haven't even made it to the manufacturing line? I know Carroll Shelby sold his first production car when the big comeback was happening for Mustang, for six hundred thousand dollars, and hadn't even drafted a model of an idea for what could possibly come out.

These are just bios numbers here. This isn't the 970. This isn't even related to anything the 970 is/was/or could be.

You do understand this is a business right?  And EVGA is already losing out on money because of the recalls from Europe from the 970 situation so I don't think they want to fudge around with numbers AFTER accepting pre-orders. It has nothing to do with 970 card itself, it has more to do with business.

I've seen it written a few times that the ROG Swift (2560x1440, 144hz) will not work with mini displayports?  Is this correct; I can't find anything about the mini displayport bandwidth being different or not enough.

don't get too excited I bet it's the t-shirt.  I wish they had a base version without all the accessories, t-shirt and led cooler for cheaper price, I could really care less about that stuff, it even made the shipping more expensive.  I don't need any of that stuff.

I was wondering if that was it but I guess we'll wait and see and not get our hopes up.  I'm not sure the price would be much lower even with those things left out since it's the Kingpin model and how close it already is to the classy price.

It's probably due to poor cables and many of them have one pin too much electrically wired which could damage hardware. With my Swift and Sapphire 295X2, I had to buy an Accell cable and it works very fine, over 120 Hz for some reason is impossible on that display with AMD card (the same behaviour can be seen with my Ares III which has normal DP, so it's an AMD or compatibility issue).
 
At first I had a poor miniDP cable and couldn't get over 60 Hz. Hope this helps...
