Hi I'm new and new help or guidance. I am running Win 7 Professional on a Vostro 470 i7 with 32GB RAM, EVGA NEX750B power supply. I had a GTX 560Ti in the machine and all was good. I read that a GTX 1080 would give me more horsepower and the spec sheet says it could run on Win 7. Anyway, I made sure windows was as updated as it can be at this time and all was good except for an optional NVDIA - Display - 3/23/2018 -23.21.13.9135, it always fails, 411Mb. Failure is Code 80070103.
I tried the driver installer V 472.12 and it comes back with "This driver is not compatible with this version of windows" and "Graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."
I turned off my machine removed the 560Ti and put in the 1080. I got the Dell logo then it began to beep, about once every 30 seconds. It just stalled and beeped. after about a minute the screen went blank and the windows logo song played as if Win started but no video.
I am open to suggestions. When I put back the 560 it works fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to run DDU which stands for Display Driver Uninstaller. That might allow a new driver to be installed.

Also for the graphics card have you seen it working in another system?

    Hoggle,
I am a bit of a neewbe when it comes to graphics cards. Can you point me to instructions on how to use the DDU? As for seeing it work I read it in a thread of another forum and I saw on the 1080 spec sheet that it runs on Win 7 so I would think that it should, No?

I think you should ask Dell support whether a UEFI compatible video card will work with their computer. It might be an issue where the Dell BIOS does not support more modern UEFI compatible video cards. Also you can ask them what the beep code means.
