You can control the radiator fan if you are willing to remove the gpu shroud. The gpu fan header on the pcb is not being used on the Hybrid.

Here is a picture of the PCB of the FTW3. A FTW3 Hybrid should be identical.

This connector is for the gpu radiator fan.(Fan 1 GPU) It is empty on a FTW3 Hybrid. Just plug this connector into the 4 pin header on the pcb and plug the other end into the radiator fan. You can control this fan with Precision or Afterburner based on gpu temperature.
https://www.moddiy.com/pr...ctor-%28Female%29.html

I connect a 4 pin y connector to the above cable to run two Noctua's in push/pull on the radiator. Works well.

Thank you ! Very helpful, if I choose to go for a Hybrid. Looks like there is no way around tinkering with the GPU, for one reason or another.. ;-) Nothing is decided yet...not sure if a Hydro is enough cooling. I see the Hydro Copper is EOL, Amazon.ca have a couple but will not ship, and I don't know any Canadians. I'll probably end up with a FTW3 and buy a block for it. Either EK or EVGA, not sure which one is better.

You're welcome.

The FTW3 and a block is the way to go for ultimate cooling. Good luck.

One more question : If I get a 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid and would like to upgrade later, is it possible to remove the Hybrid assembly and fit a HC block ?

Absolutely. The pcb's are the same on the FTW3 Hybrid and the air cooled FTW3.

I did...as a compliant that I had just bought two of them at $99 to replace the one that failed, the OG Hybrid model. The revision is quit a bit better with the cold plate for the memory. Looks like they are EOL. I think the FTW3 Hybrid issue cost them a pretty penny if those GPU's could not be repaired and resold as B-stock or RMAs. Other than the wrong standoffs for the PWM block the kits for the FE/Black style cards have no real issues and are a piece of cake to install once you ignore the directions.... Those appear to no longer be available on EVGA's webstore.

That is the HC block. I meant the full 1080 TI  FTW3 Hydro Copper card. Sorry for being unclear about that.

Hey quick question, when you say ftw3 hybrid issues, are you talking about the issues with the hybrid cooler being installed on the ftw3 causing the cards to brick or short out?
Are the hybrid kits available now revisioned? How can you tell if you have an old hybrid kit or one of the updated models?

My 1080ti ftw3 is coming Tuesday, just wondering if it’s safe to get the ftw3 hybrid kit now seeing as a ton of people had issues with them bricking their cards previously

(This is assuming I don’t have an issue with the ftw3 beforehand since 3/3 of my cards from evga have had issues so far straight out of the box this generation)

Yea coolers being installed.. you wont find this issue with cards with pre installed coolers.

Yeah funny how no one has mentioned how to know if ya got a good one or not forsure?

I believe someone mentioned you can tell from the stand offs but not sure if that's it or not.

Yeah this is what I’m afraid of, I didn’t get the hybrid card being as it’s actually cheaper to get the ftw3 and order the hybrid kit separately haha

Are temps really that bad on the ftw3 that everyone is jumping on the hybrid kits?

(My plan was to use the ftw3 fans for winter and put on the hybrid kit during summer)

All in all I’m actually scared to purchase the hybrid kits at the moment

(Hopefully my ftw3 doesn’t have issues out of the box) I’ve had really really bad luck with evga this generation, nonestop issue after issue. This will be my 4th evga card in the past 2 months. Not one card was able to run a benchmark for more than 20 minutes on stock settings without some sort of issue.
And yes I’ve tried other cards with 0 issues.

No temps aren't that bad.. as long as your fine with the noise at say 75-100% fan speeds.

At 100% fan speeds and making sure the fans were runing atleast 40% till 40c then jump up to max afterwards when its loaded durring gaming I seen max temps of 53c on air.

If you want quiet.. then hybrid is great. 40s C max temps is what I seen.. 70-72f room temps.

Gets even better with a custom water loop. 31C on load! 20-23C idle.

So you can always buy a ek ftw3 block for it insted and grab a combo ek pump/res and a double or triple 120mm rad and some cheap flex water lines and game on.

Thanks for the input, I’m ok with a bit of noise to be honest. If they ever figure out the hybrid kit situation I might end up getting one if I’m not satisfied with the fans
