Anyone else having issues where the FTW3 1080 TI is running at 85-95 degrees? I bought one from Newegg, card was running hot and throttling so did an RMA. Paid the 800$ to have a new one shipped before sending the old one back, and the new card doesn't throttle when it hits 90 degrees but still runs right around that area after 5-10 mins of gaming. My old 980 Classified has no problem running 2k at 100fps and not going over 65 degrees.

I have done DDU and ran fans at full speed through Precision XOC. Really dont want to RMA this card as well, be 2400$ out and have to wait another 2 weeks.

just read your post again, missed that you are using XOC.

Have you looked at the fan speeds to see what they are operating at?

All I can say is to pull the cooler 4 screws around the gpu,4 small around the i/o plate and 2 at the end of the cooler and carefully remove the cooler and mind all 5 of the led plugs and check the thermal paste! Bet it's bare.. been a few lately that have complained about it.

You won't void warranty doing so and I don't think you would break any stickers unless it's on o e of the 4 gpu screws.. so doing so prob won't be able to exchange at newegg anymore but I know newegg won't let you return it.. so really at this point it's Gona be threw evga which is the best customer service out there so your in good hands.

CS is prob Closed for the holiday weekend but i' m sure they would ask you to do the same if your capable of doing so.

Another guy on here reported the same and said the thermal paste looked bad and put new paste on it and it didn't fix the temps.

Could be something hardware related with the card.. bad batch of parts or something going around that's making them overheat.

Sounds like another warped cooler if the thermal paste is fine.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Finally got around to taking the cooler off. Thermal paste squished out the side of the GPU, spotty at best where it needed to be. Put some new stuff on and I seem to be doing fine. 3DMark test went up 3k points and run below 60 Degrees.

This isn't the first post here about the issue.  Although I wonder if Nvidia dictates which thermal compound to use on their GPU die.
