Hi folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Have had this card for 4 years and it's been 100% reliable the entire time. A few days ago I removed the card from the system to do my usual cleaning, and once it was reconnected the fans and pump had stopped entirely. Zero sound, zero warning. Upon inspection, I noticed that I had screwed up when re-assembling the card and accidently left the cable for the memory fan over one of the screw holes. When I re-entered the screw it severed one of the memory fan's wires (it has two). I have since re-soldered the little fan wire and re-done everything properly, but the GPU coolers (pump, mem fan, radiator fan) don't spin up at all. Card still works graphically but obviously overheats pretty fast.

I guess my question is - is there a chance I killed the whole cooling system by severing that cable through a short of some kind? If so, can I get a replacement cooler?

Thanks in advance!

It's possible that you fried the fan controller on the card by shorting the fan wire.
If nothing else, you should be able to connect them to a different fan header/controller.

    Thanks for the reply, Ty.

The connector plug on the GPU leads does not seem to be the same size as my MB case fan or CPU fan headers. Perhaps there's an adapter?

You may be able to find an adapter to fit, but I figured that if you were handy with a soldering iron, you would be able to chop the old end off and solder a new one on.

To be clear, we are talking about "ruining" a video card which already has an expired or voided warranty. Don't do this if you somehow want to try to keep an extended warranty intact.
