My GTX 1060 SC 3GB is running at 80° during games and benchmarks, the Fan is at around 48%, 1440RPM. No overclocking, no custom fan curve. Just stock as it came. Shouldn't the card be cooler?

Definatly. You should create your own curve, it's pretty easy. I use Afterburner for that.

Haha... Google is your friend, buddy. But you can skip that little adventure, because I checked the datasheet for you, as you was writing your last post. The maximum for your 1060 is 94 degrees. So have fun with your 80 degrees, maybe you wanna back some eggs on your tensixty.

80 degrees is hot, and iirc, when most Nvidia graphics will begin to throttle. I would not let it go above that. Check your airflow, and use a custom fan curve. Clean your PC if it has been a while, or if it's dusty. Also, does your card have a stock cooler (aka a blower), or an aftermarket cooler (such as EVGA's ACX, aka open shroud)? The former tends to run hotter and louder than the latter.

You can increase the fan speed in order to cool the chip further. That said 80C is perfectly fine for the card. Cards like GTX 480 would always run at about 90-92C under full load and those cards have been used for years for folding and scientific calculation (Fermi architecture is great for that). So we would not expect there to be any issues with the card running at that temperature for several years.

I'm sweating just thinking when I had the 2 GTX 480 SCs in SLI. No matter what, it sounded like a 747 and felt like a sauna and yes, my average temps were around 90c on each GPU. Obviously the bottom GPU was about 5c-10c cooler but nonetheless, they both ran very hot. I kinda miss them but not really. lol

wow this is a total surprise to me. 90-92C is alright... amazing I remember back when anything over what 60/70 was an emergenct

Nothing's gonna happen to your GPU for running at 80C. 80C degrees while hot is still an acceptable temp for a GPU under heavy load. My 1070 SC will go from 68c to 76c depending on how hot the abient temperature is. This is on the default BIOS fan curve. What is your room temperature? and does your GPU have a blower or open air design cooler? If you'd prefer lower temperature then set up a custom fan curve and problem solved.

There are several variables that haven't been mentioned. Monitor's resolution, games/benchmarks being used, case/cooling, etc. Realistically , 80C is a temp I could only dream of with a Titan Xp @ 1440p with the reference cooler.

80°C is actually below Nvidia's temperature target of 84°C. You're perfectly fine. If you want a few extra FPS you can increase the fan speed as the new 10 Series cards auto-overclock themselves if they are cool enough. Enjoy your new card.

If the only thing you want to do is turn the fan to 100% during gaming grab NVIDIA Inspector. It's a much simpler app that requires no installation and leaves nothing behind when you delete it, you don't even need to extract it from the ZIP file. Press the Show Overclocking button, drag the fan speed up to 100% and hit apply. When you're done just do the same thing, except this time check the "Auto" box and hit apply.
