So I just found out that PhysX hasn't been using my GPU ever since I installed my GTX 470. It doesn't work in 197.41 or 197.55. I can set GPU acceleration to GTX 470, or 9800GTX+, and get the same result, it runs on the CPU. I tried reinstalling the PhysX software, but that didn't help either. Any ideas? Yes, I use Driver Sweeper and the like when installing drivers.

you aren't the only one, I heard from others here that the Fermi Drivers dropped support for PhysX as well.

T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G

Since Fermi was supposed to be really good at PhysX.... EDIT: It seems everyone else in the Top Mods Rigs for the GTX 470 has GPU PhysX, judging by their 3DMark scores. However, they also all have Intel CPU's, and I have an AMD CPU... I wonder if the drivers are somehow confusing it as an ATI GPU and thus disabling GPU PhysX.

_Nite_ I just remember seeing on one of these threads someone said support dropped on older PhysX Cards, Boredgunner I think mentioned it I was wondering if having my 9800GTX+ installed might affect PhysX somehow...I guess it's possible. I might try taking it out tonight and seeing what results I get. EVGA_JacobF What application are you using that shows this issue? Both 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 06, makes my scores way low, and I figured I'd also test it in Supersonic Sled since I know it uses PhysX, and with the onscreen PhysX indicator up, it says it's using CPU. Also last night I downloaded the raging rapids demo thing, and it said it couldn't find a PhysX device and so would be using the CPU.

Help with GTX 480 and PhysX

I'm having this issue as well. When running PhysX applications (3DMark Vantage, Cryostasis Tech Demo) the application self-terminates and tells me to install a PhysX driver. Other PhysX applications give me garbage performance. When I try to install the PhysX system software, it actually attempts to uninstall PhysX. Also, my GTX 260 goes unrecognized with the 197.55 driver. While this is normal, it was recognized in the 197.41 driver so I'll try those again and dedicate PhysX to the GTX 260. Hopefully that works. But this takes very long, someone help us. Nite, I never mentioned this until now. You can read the future!

If I do, then Driver Sweeper has failed me, which I doubt it has. I've uninstalled/installed two different drivers - 197.41 and 197.55. So the PhysX drivers are installed, but not working. And yes, PhysX is enabled in my control panel. Aggravating... my review will be way overdue now.

If we're lucky, the 256 drivers will be like getting a whole new card! Lol, seriously tho, I have good hopes for 256. deicida Boredgunner you said that it tries to uninstall PhysX when you run the installer, any chance you have some bits left over from a bad PhysX install/uninstall? I uninstalled and reinstalled PhysX separately in hopes of a fix, nada here.

deicida PhysX is working on my 480 anyway but I'm having trouble trying to get it to work on my 285. I've tried modded INF and using both 197.45 and 197.41 but it just crashes straight away. I thought I read something about Subvendor being bad if it said NVidia doesn't it have to say EVGA?

devilstestamentI thought I read something about Subvendor being bad if it said NVidia doesn't it have to say EVGA? I've heard that some of the initial releases did indeed go out without a BIOS change. Isn't there supposed to be a vendor-based version made available from the subvendor/OEM? Of course if there were a newer BIOS that needed to be installed, it most likely would be something you'd have to contact the OEM directly for...

turboD Let me get this straight. PhysX is not working only when you try to add a dedicated PhysX graphics card, right ? Cause i have a single 480 and PhysX is working perfectly. I wonder how many of them just simply put the cards in the slots and relied on the old driver install to do the rest?...
