I recently upgraded my 3090 FTW 3 ultra using the Hybrid kit. I also updated the bios with the latest 3090 Hybrid Bios for the FTW 3 card but my fans have an issue for some reason in-game they constantly ramp up and down and it is really aggravating. Locking the fans at a certain RPM doesn't matter either. When I monitor the fan usage it says some ridiculous number as it's spinning to the max. Edit: Only solution was RMA of the hybrid kit which solved the issue

Having same issue with 3080 ftw3 after installing hybrid kit too. Super annoying listening to fans randomly ramp up and down and up and down and up and down at random. Anytime the card goes from idle to under load the ramping up and down starts.

Try only using precision x for fans. Don’t use the Nvidia performance features. That crap screwed with my fans and clocks. It’s like the programs are fighting each other. Turn off the Nvidia crap.

Wait does that actually fix the hybrid fan ramping up and down?

From what I keep seeing online it’s a firmware issue. I’ve tried px1, afterburner, speedfan, OC mode and normal switch and still no change.

Could you be a little more specific, please? Is this something in the NVIDIA control panel or inside geforce experience you’re talking about?

I had the exact same problem with my first 3080 ftw3 ultra whereas the fans ramped up and down in between loading screens, while changing graphics scenery etc. This was soon followed by black screen crashes with fans revving and then the black screen crashes became more frequent and then I RMA'd its ass and so far the new one is not doing this. Just to save you some time, there is NOTHING that can stop this. I have tried everything from different DP cables to HDMI cables, to different PCIe cables to different pc to different versions PX1, to downgrading drivers to reseatting the card, you name it I ve done it. Also in my case the fans were making an excruciating noise more resembling a pc case air blower than a quality piece of hardware. Either way I wish you luck but better contact service asap.

I think that may have just been a bad card and a different issue. Fans revving up and down in games only started after I converted to Hybrid Kit and updated Bios to Hybrid bios. This never ever happened before I converted my 3080 FTW3 Ultra with the Hybrid Kit. It seems to be happening to everyone with a Hybrid GPU.

Here is a fun one, my 3090 Kingpin will get 6-10 degrees c hotter if I turn the fans to 100% in precision.... Turn it back to auto, drops back down.

Yes what I described was stock 3080 ftw ultra on stock fans etc. probably something wrong with hybrid then. Either way good luck!!

Thanks, hope your new gpu is a good one too and you won't have to RMA again. Another reason I don't want to RMA route yet is cus I live in AU and this will be a pain in the ass to get another and reluctant to pay shipping. My cards been working since November 2020, and regardless of all these weird temp blips and fan spikes with hybrid conversion it's still funny enough working well when gaming. The ramping spikes is just annoying I was hoping to find someone also with hybrid not having this issue and how.

I received the hybrid kit for my 3080 XC3 a few weeks ago and started getting nervous when I noticed the fans were not spinning and the temps were going up. They would finally kick on when the temps got high enough...... the radiator was warm to the touch / hot. I had no temp issues prior to installing the hybrid kit. I ended up turning the fans on 24/7 rather than waiting for them to kick on automatically. I have been running it like this for 3 weeks now and have not encountered any temperature issues.
