Hi all,

This is my first post so please be patient with me.

Can the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 06G-P4-1267-KR firmware be updated?  If so where can I find info on how to do this and the updated firmware file?
The reason I'm asking is because every so often my monitor will lose the signal from the graphics card after the monitor goes into sleep mode and the only way I can get it to reconnect without restarting the computer is by power cycling the monitor.  I'd estimate that 90% of the time the monitor will turn on after resuming from sleep when I move the mouse, but that 10% always seems to happen at the worst possible time.  Initially I thought it might be the monitor so I switched monitors with my wife, but the problem persisted on my pc, but her pc ran fine with my monitor.  So I did some online research and it seems that a few others with the same graphics card are having the same problem as me.  I even saw a similar post on this forum.  Many of the complaints were from folks with MSI AMD B450 motherboards so I can't rule out a compatibility issue between the card and the motherboard.  In any event, all my drivers are current, motherboard firmware is current, and I'm not overclocking anything.  The card performs fantastically under all other conditions I've subjected it to including gaming and stress testing.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

EVGA Precision X1 should tell you when you install it if there's a firmware update available..Or, click on the little circled "i" button on the bottom-right of it..Make sure you have the latest version, 1.0.4.0 as of now.

Go to the Power Options in Windows Control Panel..Then Change plan settings..Then set Turn off the display to "Never".

You can also click on Choose what the power buttons do and then Change settings that are currently unavailable and uncheck "Sleep"..Maybe just use Hibernate as Sleep can cause resume problems sometimes.

Turning off "Fast startup" might be the ticket..You can try that too.

    Thanks,
EVGA Precision X1 didn't indicate a firmware update was available - bummer.
I turned off fast startup in the Windows 10 power option so fingers crossed that this solves the problem.
I previously tried setting the "turn off display" feature to never and it worked, but I don't like having the monitor on 24/7 so that fix isn't an option for me.
I also previously turned off sleep, but the monitor would still refuse to come back on occasionally.  Besides that the computer itself seemed to be fine because it was still able to stream videos to my Roku even though the monitor wouldn't turn back on.
Since this is an intermittent problem I'll post back after a week or so to see if there's any improvement from turning off "fast startup."

My solution would be to disable sleep completely, and just leave the pc running while I'm away with the monitor manually turned off. I would also lock the computer before leaving.

Re: Firmware for EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 2020/04/27 12:59:42 (permalink)
It's been about three weeks so I wanted to update the situation.

First the bad.  None of the changes suggested made a difference.  I was still getting signal loss to the monitor within the fist week even with sleep completely disabled (except for the monitor).

Now the good (maybe).  A colleague in the IT department where I work suggested that I try disabling the plug and play service "SSDP Discovery" on my PC.  He said that there's something in the MSI firmware that is causing conflicts with some installed devices and some programs.  He told me to pull up the Device Manager app in Windows 10 and see if it refreshes itself often.  He said if it did then that's a good indication that the service is causing a conflict somewhere in the system, or that one of my connected USB devices is acting up.  Sure enough Device Manager was refreshing every couple of seconds on my system.  I went ahead and disabled the SSDP Discovery service, and the Device Manager refreshing complete ceased.  Better yet, I went a week without any loss of the monitor signal.  I reenabled the service after a week when I discovered that my ROKU was no longer recognizing my PC for streaming, and my monitor lost signal the very next day.  I disabled the service again and have not had another loss of signal in over a week.  This may all just be coincidental since I've gone 2-3 weeks previously before a loss of signal event occurred, but I'm hopeful.  I did internet research on problems with the SSDP Discovery service, but couldn't find anything relevant to my situation.  I did an online chat with MSI customer support and the tech I spoke with wasn't aware of an issue and suggested that I talk to EVGA and Microsoft.  In any event I will update this post again at a future date should I experience another monitor signal loss event.  I'd prefer a solution that allows me to use plug and play, but for now this seems to work.

    4 Week Update
It's been 4 weeks since I disabled the SSDP Discovery Service and I've had zero issues with monitor waking after sleep, so I have to conclude that there's a conflict with the Service and the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 06G-P4-1267-KR or the Viewsonic XG2402 monitor.  Just FYI to help others experiencing the same issue.
