Hi. Well,  since getting this card, I've been having weird behavior problems in Windows 7. While playing games there's been a lot of jittering and sometimes games will crash to desktop or BSoD in Steam, like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. I'll get an IRQL Stop: 0x0A or Memory Management Stop: 0x07f.

Also during system startup, right before Windows is about to load up from the logo and black background, horizontal artifacts appear everytime. Another big issue is Windows move slightly and flicker and stop responding for a second. And like when I'm online the browser closes quickly at the blink of an eye and reopens. The Windows 7 games do this, too, while playing, it blinks away then appears quickly a lot.

Another problem in Steam is that I can't put Blade Kitten in fullscreen or it crashes everytime. I've checked ram for errors with 6 to 7 passes and none were discovered. I have two different types of Kingston ram, one 1066 MHz and the other 1333 MHz DDR3. I use the 1333 now and I still get the same problems, so I'm thinking it's this GPU model. I have all of the latest drivers except for the nVIDIA drivers are the 260.99 ones, 'cause the newer ones were giving me not as good performance. My PSU is a 750W Ultra X-Pro.

Thanks

I can see your cpu and screen resolution playing a major factor in some of you issues.  Can you list you motherboard make and model?  It almost looks like you running the wrong ram for that board here....
Just to make sure, you should be able to get the ram compatability off of you motherboard manufacture's website.

Also, if you search around this forum you will see many folks upgrading to the 400-500 series of gpu's and experiencing similar issues as you are:

Hi and thanks. I was running regular Kingston 1066 DDR3 RAM and I was having the same problems after I'd started using this card. I have the Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L and it supports up to 1600 DDR3 RAM. While some of the Kingston memory is on their list they mention that they aren't able to list every one  due to the many that are on the market.

I had a 9800 GT and it seemed to run a bit smoother except for when near heavy smoke and water effects. I once had aero disabled, but doing so causes tearing in all video media in WMP 12, MPC, YouTube, and Crunchyroll.

I read the thread and I checked my CPU and GPU usage, and my cpu is usually around the 70's to 80's with GPU and memory usage seeming to be all activated along with the clock frequencies.

I looked up the error you posted and it sounds like a driver crash. Did you recently update the driver without cleaning up the old one? Download the latest driver from Nvidia and do the following...

    1. Download and run driver sweeper and remove Nvidia drivers.
    2. Restart your computer and install the latest Nvidia driver.
    3. You may have to restart the computer again for it to take effect.

I did what you recommended, and all of the problems that I mentioned are still the same.

Could you download and run 3dmard06 and post your score?  This is a very cpu dependent program but it will give you/us a better idea of how bad the bottleneck is.

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1297

    also try 3dMark Vantage:

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/3DMark-Vantage-(Build-1.0.0)-download-1906.html
you can check you vantage score here:

The last thing I would try (if it were me) would be to reformat and reinstall windows 7.  This "should" eliminate any possible driver conflicts.

No offense but if he's getting artifacts on startup and it crashes under load, then it should probably be RMA'ed at this point. The RAM and drivers on been tested and that's not the issue. The only other thing I can think of is his power supply. Mirogi can you test your GTX 460 in another computer to see if it works fine?

I'd recently did a fresh install on January 17th and I had some of those problems mentioned in my first post (not the Blade Kitten one, but I had just decided to play it yesterday, the first time since getting this new GPU from the 9800 GT). Also, I haven't used any registry cleaners either, and I defragment the hard drive and check for viruses on occasion.

The flickering is one of my biggest concerns, though. It's been here since getting this card. It may just be the drivers, but if you're not getting any of the symptoms I am, then, it must be the card, maybe.

Sorry, but this is the only one I have that's PCI-E and the PSU has a single 12 volt rail 750W with 50 amps. I was about to get a new PSU, though, in about a month with 70 amps and 850W.

That psu should be more that capable to handle you current setup, unless its on its way out...

I agree even though its a brand i've never heard of.... still he's likely not even using half of what its rated for. I believe the best course of action would be to contact EVGA for a RMA.

I had been looking around with google to see how long you should go before replacing your PSU and I couldn't find anything. I've had this one for about 3 and a half years, 4 in December. I once had another PSU that would turn the whole screen black when I'd encode. Since I haven't been seeing those types of symptoms, I didn't think it could be the PSU, yet. None of the products from Ultra has ever failed while I've used them. There seems to be no sign of it burning out yet, as far as I know. It's still quiet and just gets warm under load.
