Hey guys, for the past probably two weeks, I have had NOTHING but problems with drivers.

Here's what I am experiencing:

Lots of issues with it crashing/reloading (kernel problems).

Issues running OC Scanner (or similar [MSI etc.]).

This is what I see when I load OC Scanner: (notice how it says 50mhz core/101mhz shader)

I can't do any overclocking, and it seems at least once a day, I am having to reinstall some sort of driver, be it 260.89, 260.99 or the new beta (266.35 I think), until the machine will work. It was stable @ 900/1800, and I just wanted to see how much further I could go. By "stable" I mean I had no problems playing games or folding, but the kernel issues (crashing/reloading) are a daily occurrence, no matter which driver I am using it seems. It seems as soon as I put stress to the GPU, it fails, and reloads.

I was going to purchase a GTX460 1GB to replace this, but with the problems I keep having, I am not sure what to do. I still may, but my purchase is defiantly on hold. Any ideas/suggestions/tips?

Full system specs, including PSU and OS would help.

Got some stuff in a plastic box that's makes my screen turn on when I push the button on the front, cool.

I think it's aliens, but I'll have to confirm with voodoo do-er on that.

First off, your core/mem/shader speeds are OK, the card ramps down at idle, if you check Precision after the test, you'll see on the graph they ramp up to full speed under load.

Although I'm not having issues with the new drivers, I'm running XP Pro SP3, not Win7. Seems quite a few people are having issues with drivers and Win7, reguardless of the card series.

Alledgedly, nVidia is working on a fix for Win7, it's also alledgedly a Win7 issue, not an Nvidia issue. Yeah, 50/50, pass the buck back and forth, whatever, just fix it.

I intended to pick up Win7 in 2 weeks, but I may put that on hold, I may just wait until this issue is resolved. I'd hold off buying a new card just yet if I was you, the probs you're having right now will probably follow you to the new card, cause you'll still be running Win7.

I could be wrong, but I have been problem free from the get go with this card, and that's with XP and the 260's, the only drivers I've ever used on here.

Oh, so this isn't a card or driver installation problem, it's on nvidia with compatibility?

I am running Win7 64bit and I have not had issues with the driver except for one: Having dual monitors and running a game it will randomly black out my second screen while I am in game or flicker the monitor.  Other then that I have not had any problems with it.  Maybe try the card on another system or try a different card with those drivers in your machine and see if the problems still exist?  Just dhemke said though there is hit and miss with nVidia and Win7.
Are you running the 32bit version of Win7 or the 64bit?  If the 64bit you should try running the 32bit and you wouldn't have any problems at all I bet.

Other machine is a net top (ultra-tiny desktop). Don't have any other cards to try either.

How do I "run" the 32-bit portion, instead of 64?

I also forgot, when I run Vantage, this is what I get.. 2500 Vantage points? My 10 year old GPU did better.

There are versions of Win7 that are 32bit.  There is not a 32bit portion it is a complete new install of Win7, but with the 32bit version.  When I got Win7 Ultimate it came with both the 32bit and 64bit discs.

Right - didn't know if I needed to do a complete fresh install.. Wasn't planning on it until I got a new SSD, but man, I can't do any OC'ing of the GPU any more..

I understand that for sure.  Better though to have a computer running at stock then not running at all though right?

True. It sure would be nice if I was able to OC - considering I am thinking of getting a new GPU. I could understand if this was the 570, since it's new hardware, but the 450 has been out for a while now..

Yeah I completely agree with that and so has Win7 and you would think it would all be meshed and working great now...but it is Microsoft we are talking about here...

I've been watching like a hawk, before my upgrade to Win7. As it stands now, I'll just do the upgrade to 4GB of RAM, and wait till Win7 works.

I want DX11, but if it's gonna crash on me all the time, and require me to reinstall drivers all the time, I'll just plug along with DX9/XP Pro until they fix it.

I've waited a long time for this upgrade, like 4 years since my old AMD system, I can wait a bit more till W7 is right.

If the 64bit you should try running the 32bit and you wouldn't have any problems at all I bet.

Just got done with a fresh install of 32-bit W7. Same thing. Stupid me ordered my new 460, and sadly, I won't be able to OC when it arrives. Now I have to go on an egg hunt to find someone with the same problem, and see if they were able to fix it.

Yep. Artifacting is terrible. I can easily get 100,000+ artifacts in a matter of seconds..

I'm in contact with Matthew about possible RMA.
