Yeah I just had the same problem, my issue was the 8 pin power connector on the motherboard wasn't plugged in all the way, see that video that KMoore posted it guides you through some solutions.

Thanks for reply. I have tried pushing the clear cmos button and checked the power plug, I have a coolermaster silent pro 700w modular power supply that has 2 4pin plugs that are all the down and locked on the clip. Have not pulled the battery yet it's a **** to get at in a Lain Li V350 case . Still get FF on power up ,I know the cpu i7 920 do chip was lined up with the 2 notches there is not any room for error there.

Can't see for sure but it looks like the BIOS chip is to the left of the top PCIE slot below that first cap.  The one with the little logo on it.  Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Keep in mind the BIOS chip on the X58 Micro (E756) isn't socketed it's soldered onto the mainboard, therefore one can't reseat it.

Have you tried all the suggestions on the video?

It's conceivable that the bent pin pasted QA/QC in the manufactoring process?

EVGA can take care of it but at a cost possibly. But the cost would be much less than the cost of a new board. There again a new board would be a much quicker fix.

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. You can only push it down on Nvidia boards, like the one shown in the video. Not an issue on X58/P55.

Sorry old dust, sucks about the pin. I would email or call EVGA first, you may be able to get the board fixed/replaced for a fee, but it varies depending on the damage. My personal guess is it will still be a lot cheaper than a new board.

This is something I overlooked when purchasing this board, as I now understand that EVGA will replace the BIOS due to a failed/bad flash.  Something you can't do when they are soldered.

Thanks for the replys, I bet that pin was bent when i got it , it was bent all the way back between 2 pins on an angle there's no way i could have bent 1 pin like that but since i tried to bend it back and i think it broke off I'm sure I'm screwed. Live and learn.  And ya i know i should have tried to take a picture of it first.

EVGA does also repair sockets on their boards. Cost usually is around $50+. Time for repair is what may be a big factor. Still cheaper than buying new one.

Called EVGA this morning and they said around $35-45 to replace socket maybe 7 working days, not bad but then he saw that I was only 1 day over the 30 day return  at compUSA and to call them and just tell them it had some bad pins. Called them and the guy checked with his boss and said OK bring it in,  so here I sit with a new board. ( I Believe I Believe there is a SANTA) Thanks everyone for  the help.

CongratZ, glad it turned out so well for you, I've seen posts where EVGA helped, for about $60,  and posts where they wouldn't, over the last year, one person took his board to a jeweler and had a gold pin saudered in after EVGA said no, I can not tell you why some are yes and some are no, But am glad your happy

The ones on the X58 3X SLI and Classfieds are removable (some of the higher end P55's may also use this method), they are in a little case instead of being pushed down into a socket.  You can still either push down on the case or open the case and hold down the chip itself, just be careful once the case is open the BIOS chip is "loose" when you put your finger on it and apply pressure it can end up sticking to your finger so when you lift it you also lift up the BIOS chip, easy enough to put back but because its so small if it flls off your finger out the casing it can be hard to find if it has a "bad bounce".

Still doesnt change the advice to the OP since his is soldered but i wanted to point out not all EVGA X58/P55 have soldered BIOS chips.

My sig is too big

If you want to know my specs tough sh..
