So I recently bought a EVGA NVIDIA GTX570 for my retro WinXP x64 PC but it seems to fail to reboot and locks up the PC upon reboot with blank lit screen. no picture just blank. Monitor detects signal but no reboot forcing it to restart seems to only worsen the issue as it prevents me from booting Windows XP at all. it seems to be installing a specific file which of course I have no idea what it's for but it's some nv-something-bunchofrandomnumbers.dll file which causes device manager to freeze for abit then act like nothing went wrong (when of course it did go wrong).

Any Help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Kevin M.

    Welcome to the EVGA Forum

Wow a Win XP retro build, you will need to eventually post some photo links

OK, what Nvidia driver are you trying to use? (you may need an older driver, from back in the day of XP & Not one of the newer drivers)

Nvidia ended support for  Win 7 &  8.1 systems back in 2021 ...... version 473.81, back around August 2022, was released as a security patch for W7 & 8 ..... so, I'm not sure what driver actually will work in Win XP

What type of cable (& adapters) you are using to connect the GPU to the monitor?

Is Fast Boot off in MB, BIOS settings (if that is even an option)?

Might want to take a look at this ---> The EVGA GeForce 600/500/400/200/8/9 Series Master Sticky List

Managed to figure out the issue and it is a good thing I bought two of them in the attempt at SLI but bad thing is it ended up being the GPU that was the issue put in another GTX570 and it worked no more BSOD so now I have to toss out a GPU as it is dead. it will show picture when booted properly but with drivers it refuses to work and causes BSOD's so Problem fixed? (I guess?) for better or for worse be careful with old stock PC Parts always be sure to have a backup plan in case something doesn't work.

Sad to hear card is faulty.  Thanks for the update

Have you tried flashing the cards BIOS?

If nothing else there is the "bake method" (GPU Up) .... don't use an oven your ever going to use for food ... heavy metals , flux residue & such things will contaminate the oven  You can do a web search & read a few reports, the "fix" can be temporary if it even works at all.

--->>>> think Cheap & dedicated toaster oven & paint a warning all over that puppy "Not for Food items"
