hello everyone, in my collection I have the mother detailed in the title
currently with an I7 975 it boots without problems, but when placing a Xeon X5690 it does not boot indicating FF error
Looking at evga download center I see that your last BIOS is "83"
The BIOS version that I see when I boot is "IX58S683", it ends in "83", will it be the same? I will try anyway to do a BIOS update with the .bin from evga download center? Or do you directly believe that this mother does NOT support Xeon?

If you have the latest BIOs version this should work Unless a hardware mod is needed). Please contact EVGA tech support.

I just updated to the latest BIOS and it doesn't support it :( I cry

I think some of the early versions of some MB needed a hardware modification in order to support that CPU
Ask EVGA support if your specific MB Should work with that CPU - provide the "Rev number" & the serial number
If it should work & it does not work, then the MB or Xeon CPU has an issue

Thank you very much everyone for your answers, it is clear to me that this mother does not natively support the x5690, it requires a hardware mod
I think the best will be, or get a 990x, or get a newer mother

The X58 was one of the best chipsets Intel ever made in my personal opinion. Glad to see this working for you.
