There is an update on Sapphire Rapids Xeon series for workstations. Wccftech claims to know the date when these CPUs should be released.

It is said that a long-awaited for Intel HEDT/Workstation lineup will finally launch in April. It is further claimed that Intel might announce the series already in February, but this does not change the fact that we are still more than a quarter away from the launch.

With next-gen HEDT systems, both AMD and Intel are now targeting content creators with big pockets. Pricing for Intel Sapphire Rapids-WS has not been confirmed yet, however since it is based on upcoming server products with nearly identical configurations, one shouldn’t expect it to come cheap.
The specs of upcoming Xeon-W series were leaked in July this year. According to the list, the flagship Xeon W9-3495X is to feature 56 cores and 112 threads and TDPs of 350W (default). More importantly, at least five models will be overclockable. This means that customers planning an upgrade to Ryzen 7000 or Intel 13th Gen Core, will eventually have a third option not compromising the flexibility coming from manual fine tuning.

AMD Threadripper PRO 7000 and 4th Gen Xeon-WS series should both launch next year. One should also note that both platforms will require new motherboards. This means an upgrade to modern DDR5/PCIe Gen5 standard, but also the new reality of ultra-expensive HEDT series. At least over the past few years consumer platforms have caught up to HEDT series by introducing 16 or even 24-core CPUs.

It will interesting to see how these CPUs will compete against the new AMD Threadripper CPUs.
