I recently upgraded my monitor which allowed me to gain more than 30 FPS @ 4K. I was elated, I could finally put my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA to the test, playing WWZ and AOE4 and the such.
But, if I run my games above 30 FPS, the games eventually crash. And after they crash once, they crash a lot faster once I restart them. I thought maybe it's a heat issue, but playing WWZ @ 60 Hz barely challenges the GPU, which just runs at about 30% of it's max.
I've upgraded the firmware on my GPU (to see if it would fix things), the bios on my motherboard is up to date, using the latest NVidia drivers, I have a high quality VESA certified DP cable (1.4), I am not overclocking my CPU or my GPU, I've had steam check all the game files.... I turned off HDR as well. My monitor is a Gigabyte M32U, and I turned off adaptive sync on it (just in case).
At 30 FPS, games run fine, they never crash. But the moment I run my games above 30 FPS, after a bit of time playing (15-30 minutes, sometimes 1 hour), the game craps out. When this happens, I can't even ALT-TAB out to other windows on my desktop, I have to sign out and sign back in to return to my desktop. What can I do? This is frustrating? Is the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra bad? (already RMA'd the original one because it died hard, not even sure if I can RMA the new'ish one).
Anyone seen this before?
