Good afternoon,
I have a 3090 Hybrid bought directly thru EVGA. It has some poorly placed radiator fan control wires that exit out the side of the card. I use a external fan controller for the 3090 radiator fans and as such I snipped them off for cosmetic reasons. The card operated in this condition flawlessly for a year. A few days ago I was playing and framerates began to drop then the computer crashed to a black screen with green artifacts. After some doing I was able to get booted back up to windows but the fan on the card was at 100% and temps were in the 80 degree (Celsius) range. If just and windows desktop/browsing it would stay on but at high temp and high fan. If I tried to launch a game it would immediately spike temperatures and crash.
I am now being denied a RMA based on the "damaged fan wire". This is clearly not a fan issue and as such why would this RMA be denied. This can is completely untouched and stock expect the trimmed fans wires which are clearly external to the GPU. Am I truly out over $2000 on a item bought directly from the manufacturer and well within the warranty period for a defect that is unrelated to a minor external modification.... the defect is clearly internal to the GPU... its not because the fans are not getting power or the fans are not spinning.
I use to trust EVGA and have used the RMA process before with fantastic results hence why I was a loyal customer. I can not believe this RMA is declined without any sort of inspection as to the cause of the issue. I am a manager in the automotive service industry and there is no way I could decline warranty service without proper diagnosis of the part in question.
This post is to warn consumers of EVGAs willingness to decline warranty without any inspection as to the cause of the defect. Seems if they are looking for anything to decline service these days. They pocket the money during the gold rush and now they don't want to give any back on the service side.

Any product that is returned under warranty HAS to be in original condition, cutting the wires voided it and they are under no obligation to honor the RMA request.

Dear gulvastr,

Thank you for taking my call.  Once again I am sorry for any inconvenience caused and as discussed, once you receive your cross shipment please just switch the cooler over from the replacement to your card to then return it in the original factory condition.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you should need any additional assistance?  chrisb@evga.com
