Hi all,

I have a 3080 Ti FTW3 that seems to run extremely hot. At stock it'll continually reach core temps of mid 80s with memory and junctions in the  mid 90s playing Battlefield 2042. The only way to remedy this would seem to be undervolting the card. Anyone experience similar issues? Is this an RMA issue given how itll thermal throttle at stock like this? Its in a Fractal Torrent Compact with a 12700k w/ D15s cooler.

Edit: Too add, I have been exploring undervolting but even something like 1905mhz @ 0.900v isnt stable. I can manage 1860mhz @ 0.881v it seems which is no where near what other seem to be able to achieve.

When you drop the side panel of your case, do your temps drop?

When I initially built the PC I tried it with it off. Didn't seem to make temps drop. My case uses dual 180mm fans o nthe front intake. Even upping them past 40% doesn't seem to affect temps on the gpu

Ya if you pull the side off and manually run the gpu fans over 60% and its still hot, sound like a bad mount
If you don't want to repaste it, RMA would be the way to go. Also running a fan curve that never sleeps seem to help keep things in check, I would run  my fan curve floor at 30% and that helped when the load came on because your cooler is starting from a much lower point.

I wound up benchmarking with the door on and off just to make sure and there was zero difference. Also just gamed for 2 hours on Battlefield 2042. Running the card stock, Im in the 80-83 thermal limit range, fans on auto were running up to the 1800-2000 RPM. Only when I undervolt will it settle down.

Whats involved with an RMA? Im in Canada. Im probably more than capable to do a repasting and thermal pad replacement but another $50 for that kinda ticks me off after spending $1200 on the freakin card lol. I was looking at the kritical pad kits.

RMA would be shipping it to California on your dime. If you can do it, the Kit of pads from EVGA are cheap, Calling CS is the best way of finding out what you can do. I don't have experience with the Kritical kits . 80- 83 on Auto fan control stock is pretty normal for a ti. If you try the OC bios position on the switch you will have a more aggressive fan curve, in Normal they don't even spin until it starts to get hot. I made a custom fan curve on my old 3080 floor was 30% to 85% by 80C , and I think my old undervolt was .832v @ 1890 mhz + 1010 memory , it knocked about 100w off the top and maintained 99. 6% performance. It ran in the 70s. I think if you ask CS if 83C is too hot and junction of 93 they will tell you it is in spec. Sorry I wasn't more help, but not even sure a repaste would help honestly. Got to spin those fans.

Yeah, overall, it seems like I get terrible undervolts. In Port Royal I can get it pretty low buts its completely unstable in BF2042.  1905 needs like 0.925v, 1860 needs 0.888v etc. Do you know if that would be a factor of the cooling or a "meh" silicon lottery loser for me

.925v is where U run my 3090s /ti, and they can maintain 2040 , so you might have a bit of Silicon lottery going on , but even so .925 should get you a noticeable temp drop with the OC curve. I use Kombustor to test stability for the clock, 20 minutes is usually good. BF 2042 is a total **** load on a card so it's got to be stable . Good luck .

Around 80C is the default temp when you're running the fans in auto. You need good airflow THROUGH your case. Two intake fans do very little if you do not have exhaust fans as well. Some positive case pressure is good.

If you can share a pic of your set up so we can get an idea of the current airflow that is welcomed.
