The outer ring on the scroll wheel slips all the time now.  Have had the mouse for about three weeks now.  It is mostly slow scrolling where there is not enough friction between the layers to overcome a single click on the clicky spin.  It might be possible to shrink the ring in a pot of boiling water but if I have it apart may as well get a flashy aftermarket ring.  Anyone know the ring size of the wheel?

I have this issue too. It's a really bad design. There should at least be notches or grooves or something in the rubber ring and the plastic wheel so they can't slip.

The same problem. It came after about a month, I used a few drops of glue, it has been working for almost a year and nothing is wrong.

I was planning the same. I put in a ticket to EVGA as this should be a failure that they document to make design changes on future versions, but depending on their response, I may just try to put some glue in there. A carefully applied dab should work, so that's what I'll try if it comes to that. The ring and wheel are very easy to separate and it should be easy to get the nozzle of some super glue down in there. Glue is not an ideal solution as it can be messy, could break up and not fix anything, or could get onto other surfaces and cause more problems.

This really should have been designed with something like gear teeth (could be fairly rounded or even a single "tooth") that interlocks the wheel and rubber ring.

I put some glue on it today and will see how it goes.  Used a opened paperclip to apply some dabs of Original Gorilla Glue in the center of the groove in three spots.  It was the only glue I had on hand that does well with plastic to rubber applications.

Quick video if anyone is interested in seeing it. You can see the rubber wheel spin, but the blue-lit plastic stays still most of the time. Got one or two clicks out of it in this video

It looks like we were late to the party. I just found this thread where they talked about a very similar issue.

Edit: It may not be the same issue. Seems like their actual wheel stopped working, not the rubber ring slipping.

There's also this thread that sounds very much like it.

I would contact support about the issue. It should be under warranty and EVGA has a good history of taking care of the customers.

Yeah, I know. I contacted them and they're working towards an RMA. I just figured the video might be helpful so people knew what we were talking about. Also, I (fairly) recently learned from other helpful folks about how to include older posts in a search (lol I know, rookie mistake), so I figured I'd share some of the older posts that may have had some relevance. Some of them sound more like the wheel itself failed, which is not our issue here.

Just got my RMA in. The clicks are louder. The pads on the bottom are scuffed to hell, but still slide fine. Stuff like that is only cosmetic, but still gives me a hint of the grumps considering mine was pretty clean still. Seems like someone used this one on a desk with no mat or some other hard surface. It does seem to have been thoroughly cleaned though, so that's nice.

I'm not sure if temperature plays into effect, but it was nice and cold getting off the UPS truck, so we'll have to run it for a bit to see how long it takes for this issue to crop up again (if it does at all).

I'm having the same issue.  How about adding better texture to the outer surface?  It feels like my fingertips are not getting any traction and that is why it slips so much.

That's not why mine was slipping. If you click the youtube link above, I made a video showing my issue. there was no problem with finger gripping the rubber, but the rubber ring would just slide around the outside of the plastic mouse-wheel. So the wheel inside was not moving at all, just the rubber piece, which doesn't accomplish anything. With the LEDs it's a little hard to make out on the video, but watch the blue part not moving for most of the video. I think there are one or two clicks out of it during the whole video. The camera focuses a little better towards the end of the video.

The video link is great, especially as my forum post count was too low for me to link supporting material.  I hadn't realized it was making me do about double the amount of movements and my fingers were getting strained by the end of the day.  The gorilla glue doesn't show and is holding up nicely.

This issue cropped up again for me on my second mouse. I just ordered a different mouse from someone else. I don't feel like gluing it or just dealing with an rma schedule. If I had paid full price for this mouse I'd be super disappointed.

This has happened on both of mine. I just applied glue straightaway when I got the first replacement (the axle of the scroll wheel broke on the first).

This is an excellent mouse except for these two things alone, and these problems have existed for a long time.

I wonder if that's why the mouse is not available on the store page anymore.. hopefully they're finally fixing it..

It definitely happens far less with later mice, so an RMA will usually take care of the wheel slipping issue. I've tried the glue trick myself though, and I have to say it worked fantastically.

Sadly, my EVGA X20 mouse just had the exact same thing happen, the scroll wheel just let go in the middle of scrolling on a web page a few minutes ago.  It now spins freely with no effect on anything on the screen now.  I bought it last year from the EVGA web store but I'm guessing the return shipping from Canada to the US and back and possible import duties and taxes when it comes back across the border to Canada will make this an expensive "free" rma replacement.
