Hello Everyone.  I have and newbie question. I want to update my GPU and I'm wondering if I have to remove my current drivers and install new ones.  Both my cards are the 3000 series and I'm thinking that it should be a plug and play switch. Any information is greatly appreciate.  Thank you all.

If both of your cards are from the same series then it is very unlikely you would need to update drivers. Easy way to check for that is go to Nvidia's site, download drivers for first card, download drivers for second card, compare files and result of compare will give you an answer.

You should be good with the same series card to same series card.   Check the driver version between the two.

as long as Nvidia released the driver you are currently using ... after the GPU was officially launched ... the existing driver should work

Turn off Fast Boot in MB BIOS ... make sure MB "sees" new GPU

Turn off Fast Startup in Windows ... or at a minimum, go Power Button, then Restart - after the PC boots the first time with New GPU

    - Another way to clear W10, (so it "looks at all hardware" & "not start from last image of hardware") ...

Power Button, now hold either shift Key down, select Shut down - Holding the shift key the entire time till PC lights go off

don't forget to unplug all AC power sources first & use a ground strap = ESD safety
