Noticed that each video driver updates disables Precision X1 to start and fans on EVGA 3070 do not spin at all. Luckily monitoring GPU temp spike prompted me to reinstall Nvidia utility and it works fine now. Does anyone else encounter this problem?

No issues with driver updates here. Keep in mind that Nvidia suggests closing apps like PX1 before updating video drivers. Also, if fan control is disabled in PX1, the fans revert to default, which is to not activate until warmer temps are achieved. What Nvidia utility are you referring to?

You Must shut down X1 ... it is a known issue. You should shutdown all background software Post any PC or X1 changes, I always confirm my X1 settings Windows 10 fast startup mode - can also cause issues post driver updates - because Window uses the last image from the previous shutdown - ignoring the new driver

No, I didn't use DDU. Should close PX1 before installing a new driver. Now I know what culprit was. Thank you guys, appreciate your useful reply. Cheers!

How exactly do you reproduce this issue? Are you installing the NVIDIA drivers and noticing this, or are you installing the NVIDIA driver, restarting the system, and still noticing this? Anytime you update the VGA driver, it will stop and start the driver service, so this may affect applications that rely on the NVIDIA driver until either the application is restarted or you restart the system.

Aging sucks that's all I can say LOL After turned 65 just forgetting basic rules. Lame for former overclocker and roughly 45 rigs builder.

No problem. That damn aging business happens to the best of us.

Lol, I would just look at it this way - once you hit a certain age, you start forgetting more than most people have started to learn. Of course, at some point, you'll also forget whether you knew some of these things in the first place.

Using DDU to remove all NVIDIA drivers could help and is not that bad of an idea to run every now and then just to make sure no old files are around that are no longer used.
