About a month and half ago I started to notice a intermittent clicking sound coming from my 3090 Kingpin, then 2 weeks ago it became constant and unbearable and it was the pump.

I read it was a common problem and to RMA the card so I did and they offered to replace the card. I had an ERMA next day(but they sent it ground, no big deal) i paid for along with the 10yr warranty. So 22 days ago I got the replacement card, and it boots up just fine, i noticed that it was set on the LN2 bios which on OG card i don't use that cooling so I got concerned that it has been more stressed than my card.

I did some normal game test and 3dmark benches and the card seems significantly worse than mine.

RMA Card
Cp2077 3440x1600 - i lost about 5-10fps (not huge deal) i only notice this as it constantly drops below 60fps
Time spy - GPU score is 2100 lower (og card 22191 score)
Port Royale - i can't break over 14400 (og card 15000)
Temps on this card are 5c more on memory and 8c on core on load
Coil whine is now audible at anything above 70+ FPS

I know i wasnt going to get a new card and knew that they are replacing based on advertising specs and i get that but it seems this card went through the ringer from the previous owner.

I have put on hybrid coolers before am I just really want to keep my pristine card and replace the hybrid cooler...but don't want to break warranty on either card as they are holding $4600 until i return the card.

I wrote a support ticket but with the limited time i have to return the card i am worried. (Hoping some team member can assist or give advise.)

If you still have your original card. Just swap the coolers and keep your card if you want. I've heard people do that with other cards and EVGA themselves seem fine with it. Just make sure you get the approval from EVGA first so everything is documented.

In this thread: https://forums.evga.com/Kingpin-3090-pump-noise-m3230913-p4.aspx EVGA allowed a member to swap out the 3090 KPE cooler. Agree with what cancel077 said, get their approval first.

For Hybrids, EVGA needs to start authorizing and sending out the AIO since it seems to be a weak point on their hybrid models and just users swap if their card is running fine outside of that and send back the AIO. If I'm happy overall with my card I sure as heck don't want to get a refurb with potential issues if I can just swap the cooler myself.

I know on my KPE 3090 before I sold it the AIO started to make noise 6-7 months in and I ended up hooking it up manually and slowly ramping it up while tapping and using a magnet and that got rid of the knocking and it never returned even when I hooked it back up to the card.

I know my KPE 3090 did start to whine >100fps but I was playing 60fps due to display limitations but when I let the frames run wild and scaled by 10fps ~100fps is when you would hear the card start to say, "hello." or I could just run TS and it would speak up but not horrifically.

With my KPE 3090ti it is basically silent even pushing 180fps+ and runs perfect. I'd hate to have to swap the whole card and get a potential used, refurb coil whine mess. Just send me an AIO and call it a wrap.

I use KPx and it is great , Tom's Hardware did a thermal paste shootout if you want to rate your options.

I’m about to buy this card, but it seems like KPE cards have a common pump problem. So it will be better to avoid KPE.

Well I can't say if it is wide occurrence but what is more flustering is the shipping costs. It is 315 euros to ship the RMA card back.

I have always bought EARs to cover warranty issues but in EU the EAR doesn't support shipping back and the insurance on these cards what gets us.

Just a bummer that this a decently documented issues that imo should be covered especially if it is pump hardware which basically is recycled for materials after it is replaced.

Either way they let me keep my original card and replace pump, so i took videos of the process and ran them through 3dmark.

    Original card +161 +1000 stock bios 105w
    RMA card +103 +1100 stock bios 105w

I read that TG(Thermogrizzly) Kryonaut may be less optimal for AIOs and was wondering what paste i should use out of the options i have

    Kyronaut

    Hydronaut

    Noc NT-H1

I’m late to this conversation, but when it comes to thermal grizzly, it says in the name exactly what the thermal paste is intended for. Kryonaut and Kryonaut Extreme are meant for cryogenic, sub-ambient cooling. They won’t crack as easy under extreme cold conditions. They are very thick, and do not spread all that great.

Hydronaut is intended for liquid cooling, and is a lot easier to spread as it is much less viscous then the Kryonaut versions.

I have personally never liked Kryonaut because of how thick it is, but I haven’t used hydronaut, so I don’t hold an opinion for it.

Almost all of the thermal pastes perform very very close to the same as others, so it all comes down to your personal preference.

Don’t ever use K5 Pro. A lot of people really pushed that for a while, but it is not easy to clean up and it will make a huge mess. Just don’t do it. When it initially came out, I suggested it because other people were suggesting it, but later found out that it makes a huge, nasty mess.
