I have been having the same issue for months with my 3080 FTW3 Ultra.  I even RMAed the first, which behaved the same way.  It's a shame EVGA has not addressed this.

Does anyone have this issue with cards older than the current 3xxx GPUs? No issues of the sort here on a 2080TI FTW3 Ultra.

Yes I am having LED issues with my EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra+.  I can switch to static off. Static on but everything else just picks a random color and stays there.  Breathing setting does this. Rainbow does this. I do see the rainbow pattern on boot-up.
 
I was ready to just install my own LEDs and power them with the Asus LED controller anyways.  This is getting very old.

Just today mine reverted to all rainbow at some point (I didn't see it happen).  This is using the latest (v1.2.6) version of Precision X1.  I thought it was supposed to be fixed.

I'm also experiencing the RGB reset on my 3080 FTW3 ultra.
 
For me its the EVGA letters that reset from temperature to rainbow. HOWEVER, there is something else going on. For me its not just the one RGB that resets but also the fan curve. The fan curve switches to default and does not respond anymore to changes I make to it. Loading a profile with a different fan curve or different RGB settings will not change the RGB, or the curve. Can anyone else check this on their card when the RGB resets ?

Update: It took about 12 hours but eventually my GPU's "EVGA" lettering swapped itself back from temperature monitoring to the rainbow LED. What a supreme disappointment.
 
I sent a message to customer support two days ago but haven't gotten even an acknowledgement. I'm not going to put in an RMA ticket or something because from what I gather, this isn't a card-specific problem - it's EVGA's terrible, terrible software. I'll continue testing and updating if I see anything, but I think one trigger for the software could be prolonged GPU stress? I can't think of what would actually cause the Precision X1 software to "rot" over time, unless there is a memory leak or the RGB LED's they used aboard the video card itself are stubborn and hard to deal with. Whatever the case, it's a complete waste of RGB LED's and software if customization just flips back to default at random.
 
I recommend everyone submit a ticket or customer service feedback to get this problem escalated.

Here is a potential fix for this gremlin. I reinstalled drivers and flashed the stock bios. Click default and modify your RGB. Then hit save. Then load a profile and make sure your RGB is correct and then toggle back to default. Toggle between the setup tab, fan curve tab, and the main page while overwriting your default and profile colors. So far, it appears to boot into the user-chosen color since the bootup scheme is now red and does not switch randomly. 

same issue here with a 3080ti ftw3. Just made a ticket reporting this. Any one seeing this tread should create a ticket and formally report this. Hopefully someday Precision X1 gets fixed.

Apologies for the delayed response. This solution is far from perfect:
 
1. Select your preferred color in the LED tab under default. Hit Save. 
2. Click the side arrows under "VGA" and save on every page. Do the same for the setup screen.  
3. Begin saving your color to each profile. Hit Save. Then click through all the tabs spamming save. 
4. Restart and repeat. Eventually, the application will write your RGB settings to the card and it will boot as such. 
 
I don't know why this worked for me but it's probably a coincidental solution in a bout of desperation.

After complete I shut down the computer and powered it back on, immediately it is Rainbow Wave again until the Precision X software loads. Which means when the Precision X software craps out again it will revert to Rainbow Wave.
 
One part of your instructions states to 1. Select your preferred color in the LED tab under default. Hit Save. 
 
The only default I can see is the button that resets everything to default? Is that what you were referring to?
 
Have to say I'm pretty disappointed in EVGA regarding this. If they do not resolve it soon I won't be using EVGA again (and none of the builds I complete for friends will be EVGA either).
 
That might sound petty but I spent a small fortune and a not inconsiderable amount of time building a heavily watercooled Thermaltake P90 show system with ARGB and this bug frankly just makes it all pointless, for £700+ I expect a central feature of this card to work correctly.

Just wanted to share I'm seeing the issue too on a 3080 FTW3 ultra. Sometimes the config using RGB for temp will stick for 12+ hours, other times it reverts to rainbow in less than 5 mins.
It started when I moved from an EVGA stinger z170 mobo w/ 6700k to a Asrock x570 steel legend mobo w/ 5900x.
GPU RGB settings also revert when power is fully removed from the system (power cord out/PSU switch off). I also notice the little red LEDs near the power connectors will light up when the system is shut down with power still applied. Neither of these happen with the EVGA z170. 

Trying the PX1 beta from LeeM now and will report back.

EDIT: After 24-ish hours of running the PX1 beta RGB has not reverted to rainbow. Looking good so far, will keep this post updated
 
EDIT 2: 4 Days of continuous running and no RGB reset to rainbow - the PX1 beta seems to have resolved the issue for me! Thank you very much to the support and development teams at EVGA!
 
EDIT 3: I do still have the RGB reset to rainbow after power is completely removed from the system but I think that is a different issue, still happy to have it working correctly while the system is powered on now. 

will be nice to have this fixed.  Been experiencing the same issue with my 3090 FTW.

Thank you LeeM! That did seem to fix it! I do notice it bounce back to the rainbow colors for just a second, but then quickly reverts right back to my saved settings.

I noticed that when the problem occurred, it wasn't only the rainbow colors, but the fan settings would be off too. It didn't show different, but I could hear it. And that was the weird thing about the bug, I couldn't just load and apply my saved profile. It acted like everything was fine. When you'd try to change the LEDs to temp, it wouldn't make any changes. They said it was still what you had it set at. The only fix was to close the program and open it again each time the bug happened.

So thank you guys so much for what hopefully is the fix! So far so good!

I'm on v1.2.8 and it still forgets some LED Settings. At First up to Version 1.2.7 it resets randomly during running the system to rainbow. Since 1.2.8 it does not reset randomly but at every PC Startup it sets my LED Count to standard 12 LEDs (My Setting: 15), 3 Areas (My Setting: 1 Area) but it keeps the Colorscheme at "Temperature" but it resets the Colors and Temps. 
 
Do EVGA employees not use there own products, that they dont notice this by themselfes?
