Hey, my 2070 super black is mining etherium at 7800mhz (+1000) for 14h/day. Is it bad? The temperature is 55C. My GPU will broken if I continue to do that? I didn’t get any driver or bios or something like that. Just the memory overclock and the core down lock.

Hi Jorge,
As with mining on any Hardware, there is a risk that you will wear the card out prematurely over time. With my mining rig I had a few years ago I had 4 Radeon Rx460s running at 100% 24hr/day for about a year. I had an open setup so everything was well ventilated. However, one of the cards did get fried. My advice is to just keep the card as cool as possible (55c is within the operational threshold). With the mining capabilities of your card, it should pay for itself within about 5 -6 months assuming you got it at MSRP

A friend of “mine,” pun included for free, has been mining with an obnoxious amount of 10 pcie slot motherboards armed with 3070s for at least this calendar year and he hasn’t fried a single card. Basically, he just doesn’t use 100% of each card. I know it’s a different series but the part where he doesn’t us 100% is probably applicable in the sense that it is a fair compromise (usage vs. longevity).

Assuming you're friend will going to sell all those 3070 after few years, the one who bought those card will be the ultimate sufferer as mining do have impact on gpu.

Temp wise that's more than fine imo, while gaming these cards are made to operate at higher temps than that. If you mine eth just make sure you lower your powerlimit and core clock, the algorithm doesn't need it.

It would be fine if cards had a kind of mileage counter. Buying used 3000 series will be tricky....

As Blace said, mining with low power and low core clock gives a long life.

Not bad as mining at temperature of 55c. mining with low temperature gives a long life of GPUs.

You'll always get a better return direct-mining rather that using a hash broker like NiceHash.

phoenix miner to a pool like unMinable with a %0.75 commission is reasonable not sure NiceHash take of profits though

But on the other hand in a normal world gpu also depreciate as well. Some people mine on the side to offset the cost of the gpu. Let say if you bought the gpu for 600, hopefully you will mine it back before it breaks.

Keep the temps down, even if you have to rev up the fans. Fans are easier to replace than GPU core/memory chips. ;)

Yeah make sure your system fans are 75%+ and power limit and core clock are as low as possible to be stable.
