BioWare Teases "The Next Mass Effect" In New Trailer | TechPowerUp

BioWare has recently announced that a veteran team is in the early stages of creating the next Mass Effect title. The upcoming game appears to be a successor to the original Mass Effect trilogy. The new teaser trailer was released by BioWare during The Game Awards 2020 live stream and teases that the new title will follow the ending of Mass Effect 3 ignoring the spin-off entry "Andromeda". This new title is unlikely to launch anytime soon as the game is still in the early stages of pre-production however, gamers will be able to look forward to Mass Effect Legendary Edition releasing in 2021 for PC and consoles.

There are a lot of Mass Effect gaming fans eagerly awaiting this release in my opinion.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

After their recent years long debacle called "ANTHEM " - ( that still hasn't been fixed as they promised ) ... I would think they would keep their head down until the next thing is nearly finished .

I'm scared to ask what they mean by veteran team working on it. Between the confused mess of Anthem and the forced identity politics of Mass Effect Andromeda I'm disturbed to see what this will turn out to be. Imagine if Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda had a baby? Abort it now.

Well, with Casey Hudson gone, I really don't have any hope that this will be a good continuation of the original trilogy.

Hopefully it is good. I think that it has a chance to be good because it fallows Andromeda which fans disliked. Sometimes people get over hyped for a game and having a poorly received game can refocus gamers and developers on what they like about the series.

Sounding more and more like the typical cash grab ..

There’s a solid 60 frames-per-second framerate on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro and re-rendered cutscenes with slightly more realistic – but still dated by today’s standards – character models for all of Shepard's shipmates.

The real bad news? Because the game is being designed for last-gen consoles, the Xbox One and PS4, there’s not much in the way of new features.

Part of the problem is that BioWare and EA decided to keep with the older Unreal Engine 3 instead of porting the game over to the more robust, feature-rich Unreal Engine 4 that would’ve allowed the team to add current-gen features. The game does its best, McCord and project director Mac Walters say, to push the engine to its limits, but it’s still the same engine that the games used when they were in development more than 15 y

Last I heard, they canned most of, or most of them quit, when it comes to the team that actually made up Bioware when it was making the last few Mass Effect &/Or Dragon Age games... so I have very little faith in this being anything more than another garbage money-grab of a game ala what FIFA is.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping both Dragon Age 4 (whatever it ends up being called) and the next Mass Effect are great games that prove me wrong, but with the standard of Inquisition (which I enjoyed & thought was one of the best games I've ever played in the genre) and Andromeda (which I thought was pretty good & got way more hate than it deserved from weirdos that wanted another sequel to ME1-3 when you LITERALLY DIE/cease to exist as a character in most of the endings) to live up to, I don't see it working out well.
Despite that, I'll be going in to it with the same mind I hit Cyberpunk 2077 with, little expectations & lots of hoping it's a good game.
With a minor automatic "negative" because I really dislike EA as a company.
As for the remakes/re-release with updated graphics of the first 3 games... yeah, count me out of that, unless I get it free with my yearly EA Access sub (I play too many of their games for it to be worth purchasing them all vs just paying $99/yr to get access to all of them AND get most of the new ones when they come out).

    Dissapointed to hear that.
So maximizing Mass Effect 3 and bringing the other games to the Mass Effect 3 quality "visual like" instead of completely revamping the whole series on a newer engine.

I'm pretty skeptical about anything coming out of Bioware right now.  I'm curious what they plan to do.  Andromeda seems dead, so back to our galaxy?  If they do, then they will need to choose a cannon ending to ME3.  This will be interesting.

I just recently started playing Andromeda (after getting it a while back for dirt cheap) and am not very far into it, but I don't get all of the hate yet.  I will say it is quite buggy, and I have had to reload saves and google how to resolve issues a few times already and I am only to the 2nd planet.  I do like some of the the combat aspects like the dash forward, jump jet jump, and sideways dodge is pretty fun, though I do feel it is sporadic as to how effective it really is at getting enemies to miss me.  The story seems OK so far.

I'm replaying through the legendary edition at the moment and I'm really surprised just how good the first game is. I know they cleaned up the combat to make it feel a bit more like the later ones but the story is amazing. I really feel motivated to do all the side missions despite the blandness because the lore makes a lot more sense knowing where everything ends up. Shadow Broker and Cerberus are no longer meaningless entities, they have context this time around.

I don't see a modern day Bioware being able to re-create this. I don't trust them yet to find a way to justify a 4 in the title  but maybe they've come out of Andromeda and Anthem with a better understanding of what works and what doesn't.

I picked it up cheap in a sale but never played it. I read that PC mods have done great work with fixing visuals and combat, so I'm actually looking forward to tricking it out and giving it a go. I might need a pallet cleanser game after I finish legendary though. It may not come off very well immediately after finishing 3
